This thread goes against bungies(Luke Smiths) intent The idea is only play with people you know and that's why MM is removed so people cant just find randomers to raid with most if not all of the suggestions above are simply inferior forms of MM there only strength is that you see people before you jump in so for example "ok we have 3 warlocks and 2 hunters we should probably find a titan to join us" but so im not just being negative and crying out for just raid MM they could add something similar to SWTOR where you have a location with nothing there except "portals" to all the raids so the only people there would be those looking to raid thus making it easier to get people together and you get a glance at their gear and do a mic check PS: only Matchmaking helps ensure good connection between all players

My intent was to have players invent features that followed suit in the social style Bungie is looking for. However, as you can see, not very many people understand the point of the thread or can't come up with something despite giving it a good, hearty try. Honestly, even having clan features in the game would be enough to satisfy the necessary camaraderie that is lacking. Asking us to find our own way is a bit too much, simply because the demand in itself is not portrayed well in the game. Instead we have to go online to read these "threads" and "blogs" about why they won't let us get together ingame, which rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Why can't Bungie tell us what they want to tell us in the game? Go all the way or don't do it at all. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent. The main point is to express that social features in the game can make up for the lack of matchmaking - we just need a way to communicate or get together. That, by itself, does not reduce the randomness of the people you meet but DOES make it so that you are more familiar with those people. There's nothing wrong with meeting new people, it's just that the problem is that we don't talk to the strangers we pair up with. As long as we have social functions that enable and encourage us to communicate with these "randoms" toward a common goal then we've got something that works better than matchmaking at bringing the community together in a different and refreshing way.

  • sorry if i came off abrasive what your doing here is really good finding the best way to make raids accessible with the current restrictions that's why I wanted to put last paragraph with my suggestion inspired by swtor so at least I'd have contributed at little bit but i guess im still being stubborn with the raid MM idea as I still don't see a good reason to not have it or another kind of automated system to find other guardians wanting to attempt the same raid built into the game

You don't need to apologize my man. I'd call you out if you used offensive language or derailed to insult, but your post was written with good intent and proper reasoning. I don't much care for the personality of the text itself, as long as it gets your point across. We're here to discuss and explain our ideas because we all have the same goal and intentions. If you see me around in the future be as abrasive or as crude as you like! We need to get past formalities and get straight to the point :) Thanks for your feedback! You're not the only one who thinks Matchmaking may be the only proper solution. It's good that you voice your opinion on the matter so that we don't close down our options. If I can say matchmaking shouldn't be the only feature we crave, I should also be open-minded enough to agree that it can still be an option regardless. Edit: I forgot to mention that this goes both ways. I hope you don't find my wording rude or hostile either.

  • you rude? from the way you have been talking I would now be disappointed if you don't have magnificent mustache and a top hat my fine sir =) on how matchmaking shouldn't be the only option I believe you are right we should always be open to improvements and finding new and better ways of doing things Destiny seeems to be built on this principle with how bungie is trying to merge somethings from the MMO genre with the FPS genre and all with incredibly tight gameplay rivaling/surpassing halo personally im for stuff like mic requirement and level requirement not just for level 20 but good enough gear to raise you to level 24 so you will still be effective in the raid from start to finish I do think this is a test and bungie wants to see if raids can be popular with guardians grouping together with others on their friends list or by joining clans but if not enough people are accessing raids they will patch in the same MM in strikes for raids
