I paid full price for every Halo game. Never ever completed more than one single mission on Legendary. The only exception was Cairo Station in Halo 2. That was all it took to know that there experiences in the package that were not designed for me. Also didn't like playing free-for-all much.

  • I should have the choice to play raids with use of matchmaking or through adding people on Bnet.

  • You have no idea how much useless and counterproductive MM is in a new raid. Try them and then you'll tell me how much you want to be put with 3-5 ppl that have no idea of what to do and make you wipe 100% in the point you alredy know and done hundred of times

  • Nah, I disagree with that. I'd still like to play raids with the use of matchmaking.

  • this explain quite well what a raid is. While we don't know how the raids exactly are bungie promised mechanics in fights similar to those that will make it require first of all to figure out what you are supposed to do (no one at lunch will know how to deal with the fight, it will all be trial and error) then training to memorize mechanics, when and what to do rinse and repeat for each single mechanics in the fight. Good luck learning mid fight when half your party has not even a clue on what to do at firsth mechanics and keep in making you die. You need a party that tackle the challenge with you every time so you learn and go deeper in the fight together MM will only bring failures and hate and problems and whine. Nothing good is coming out of it

I agree with what someone else said that having the choice is the end all to the argument. If you want to use it you should be able to, and if you don't then don't. The decision for Bungie to not include MM hurts someone like me who is good/decent doing PVE but is a single dad that just doesn't have any friends that game. I have started getting some by being active on the forums but I don't feel like I should be forced to do that. I'm glad I have met some of these folks, but who knows the friends I've made just may not pan out. Sure some MM groups will have problems but that's the risk that I as the player am taking by choosing to do a MM group. I would rather have MM groups than miss out all together. I have been a follower of this game since its announcement, and the thought of missing out on end game content really frustrates me. Either way they got my purchase which is the goal, and I'm sure I will log a lot of hours.

  • The thing is, if they included MM in the raid, even with a pop up disclaimer that everyone would ignore most would think that's the way to do them. You'd have hundred of thousands of people running these raids in a MM group, some putting some serious effort into beating it, and after wiping a hundred times since the raid was designed to not be able to complete without a group of people working together the forums would flood with why is MM in the raid if it can't be beaten. Even a group of friends, all excellent players good at working together with their mics on will not beat this raid on their first attempt. Or likely their third fourth or fifth either. But being a group that formed together through communication, and willingness to keep trying until they succeed, eventually this group will figure out all the encounters and finish the raid. These encounters will require several attempts by the same group of people in order to be successful. Bungie knows that by including MM, MM would be the default mode most people choose, therefor never having a chance to be successful. By throwing MM out, and requiring you to find a team, Bungie is preparing you for the challenge you're about to face.

  • The problem with raids is the people crying about everything. First it was the "I paid the same price as PlayStation so why don't us Xbox gamers get the timed exclusive content at the same time as PlayStation" type people. Now its the "I want matchmaking in raids" for whatever reason type people crying. Bungie put matchmaking in something called strikes and people complained about other members of their fireteam quitting during the match and now this. Everything Bungie is doing has been well thought out so I agree with Bungie. If you don't like it then maybe this game isn't for you.

  •
I agree with what someone else said that having the choice is the end all to the argument.
Nope. Adding choices isn't always good for a game. There are plenty of obvious examples (like the option to use an Auto Rifle that one-shots everything with a single bullet) that would make the game worse. Raid matchmaking isn't as severe, or as obvious, but it does make the game worse for Bungie's intended design. You aren't being forced to make new friends, because Bungie isn't forcing you to raid. You have the option to find a group of people to raid. You want to raid, so you feel pressured to be more sociable then you normally would be. That's the point. Adding matchmaking undermines that, because then you 're no longer under pressure to be sociable. Solo players already have easy access to all the other content in the game. Raids don't need to be optimized for them too.

He isn't specifically saying the raids need to cater to solo players. He's saying there should be a streamlined system in place for making a party of people to play said raid with. Instead of having to get on a forum, and go out of your way looking for people just for that sole purpose. The only problem with this is if one person joins who isnt as good and people that take the game far too seriously will spend the whole time getting mad, yelling and screaming at them and at that point the experience is ruined for both parties involved. That kind of stems from the fact that people either take it not seriously enough, or far too seriously. On one extreme you get the hardcore guys that yell and scream and kick up a fuss because someone isnt a godlike fps player or tactical genius. Then the other extreme is people acting moronic trying to imitate a youtuber, trying to imitate them by going around attempting to troll everyone they come across and just generally being a pain. If people made more of an effort to help, and be friendly and sociable like what majority would be like IRL, instead of being a bunch of dicks because they're hiding behind a screen, it would be a perfectly viable option.

  • you have no idea 1) how much useless it's MM for NEW RAIDS 2) how bad is MM for content you can't complete with it for the comunity 3) How bad is medium player made irritated by to being able to complete a content with something you are given by dev 4) how much better will be for the comunity to force them to start raids the right way instead of giving a fals choice where the only possible outcome is failure

  • Yep. Not going to be touching Crucible at all. However, the co-op is total win and I will make a whore of myself playing the storyline/explore. Old Russia freeroam was my happy place and you all took it away for a month. I did nothing to deserve this punishment but I will stoically wait the required time and then return to my wanderlust of looting and shooting things in the face.

  • A different subject, but if you'd care to let me try the map Exodus Blue and the strike Dust Palace on my Xbox, I'll be sure to let you know if I feel the experiences weren't designed for me. After all, I'm paying full price and all that jazz!

  • yeah, but you had a chance to try them and see for your self if they were right for you. There is a difference between choosing not to and not having the ability to even try. For the record, I am neutral towards the entire argument. I am simply trying to counter balance what you have said.

  • nice try. Content not designed for you in a game versus content in the game locked behind a paywall. Not really a valid comparison. Features missing versus features complete you opt not to use.

  • hmm...how is raid matchmaking locked behind a paywall? you REQUIRE gold, and playstation plus to play the game in teh first place, the only wall it's locked behind is the end user refusal to make online friends and join destiny clans.

  • why design a "large" portion of the game (that has been advertised as the main point of the game essentially) for a very very "small" minority of the community? It doesn't make sense. What is this bs about "if you cant schedule time, its not for you". Can you imagine if Bungie themselves said this. I payed full price for the game. I get access to all content included with the game, including raids. This OP is completely oblivious and unsympathetic to those that have other responsibilities. These arguments against Matchmaking have no validity. You can add the option with a disclaimer simply stating the following: "This mode will be incredibly hard. Perhaps you can all take a moment to put on mics and plan" or something along those lines. This will NOT prevent people from complaining about the difficulty but they cannot say they were not warned. This would actually cause people to maybe I dont know put on their mics and actually try to communicate. Its like they are gonna put 15 rubix cubes in the raid that you have to solve in 10 minutes. Come on people. Additionally those who do not want to use the mode do not have to. Are you afraid that your "friends" wont want to play with you anymore because a mode was added? Please answer this deej since you have connections to bungie or work for them
