Hand signals in the field.

I think it would be nice to have the hand signals that you use when on the sparrow while your on foot out in the field. So you can direct team mates or people that come to help you. I think you could still have the regular emotes in the field but instead of just pressing the dpad you could hold them. What do y'all think, should this be added?

  • Wouldn't be hard to add and would be a lot more useful than pointing and dancing

  • In world of tanks Xbox 360 edition, they have a LB hot key for commands like: Affirmative,Negative,Help, Requesting fire, Follow me, Reloading, Halt. Be nice to see these things in Destiny

  • I love this idea, it would allow for more tactical movement of fireteams and can ease the issue with chats. Personally I don't like playing with a headset and simple gestures can go a long way!

    • It is possible to do. The Devs would have to create the animation, then code it into the game so that if the left is held, then the character would say go left.

      • Agreed. Bungie will probably add something like this even if it's more emotes. Some people either don't want to speak or don't have a way to communicate. Button presses like in MMO's do help in raids or grouped adventures. Bungie knows that communication is key for this game. I have confidence in their listening to fans and helping players work together with any communication possible. :)

      • That and being able to use those hand signals while moving. Cause if your sparrow is moving it won't let you use an emote.

      • Would be cool, can't tell you how many times I've wanted to tell some one the direction of a chest or we're engines are and they just look at me like "what's with that guy?" So this would be cool.

      • Agreed. I would personally like if they added an actual direction when you point. Unless I have missed something, I noticed when using the point emote it just said points. No direction is given when "pointing". As mundane as it sound, being able to give a general since of direction could help. Although, then I suppose it would require some type of compass to be added to the radar. I get that Bungie doesn't want a map to add a feeling of large scale to the environment. But would a sense of direction hurt?

        • People just need to use their mics.

          • I think a good way to implement further fireteam comm using hand signals, emotes etc would be to have something similar to how Portal 2 introduced exactly that, visual count downs, shared visual queues and way point placements, except maybe leave those commands to the SL? I mean squad way points are absolutely the best possible solution period, small things like this are crucial in any grouped based virtual environment.

            • I think it's a very good idea given the fact that unless the players you are with in the game are your friends most people don't even use their mics to communicate with each other. It would also be good if the emotes for use in the field during combat drew a "little" bit more of the player's attention. I can't believe how many players I know and YouTubers I've seen are just not very observant.

            • Only issue is that random people (including me) will probably not listen to some guy I don't know telling me where to go. Jump on a sparrow and try to get someone to listen to you with those hand signs, they won't

Great idea but would be difficult to implement. We use mics for a good reason. You would have to open your emote window, choose the right emote and hope you don't get 1 or 2 off and signal wrong. There is already a 2-3 second delay on PS3, PS4 you can have party chat to speed it up. Mics will be most effective and less miscommunication But still a great idea, like another said you would need some motion... Maybe six-axis control? Still too much room for error and miscommunication though...

              • The only way this would be possible is with the kinect. And bungie already said that in order to get 1080i at 60fps they have to exclude the kinect in game. It takes up too much gpu and they're putting that power to the graphics...
