Some Things I Found Questionable About Destiny.

1. drowning so we have the ability for space flight, yet our amour cant keep us alive if our head goes under the water... 2. the invisible wall the invisible wall... "if you can see it you can go there" turns out to be less then true for the beta as i was often barraged with invisible walls/ ceilings, or stopped by the "turn back now" screen 3. validity of "earn your loot" the "earn your loot" phrase seems to have blown up, however in the beta this statement would appear to be false. lets start with loot drops these from what i could tell were near 100% random, i even did a little bit of a test because i noticed that sometimes in battle a creature i didnt even shoot would drop loot for me. so for about 30 minutes i walked the field just standing in battles and doing nothing to help, and for that 30 minutes loot still dropped for me. next would be the crucible. i cant find one person that can tell me how the loot in that thing works. you can be the worst player on the loosing team and still get some pretty good gear. 4. A.I. i understand that we were only on the lower levels of the game but i still found the A.I. lacking in intelligence. im hoping for some actually struggle with them later on in the game. i want to see them try and cut us off from reviving our fallen comrades, i want to see flanking manoeuvers and other strategy. i want to be kept on my toes instead of just shooting at mindless bullet sponges. 5. socialization im found that for a game that is supposed to be social there was there was no real social interface... i mean sure you could awkwardly dance in utter silence with each other but lets face it, theres more feeling of social interaction on cod when that 12 year old is telling you all about how slept with your mother. funny thing is this could easily be fixed with a proximity chat. people on psn had their party chat thats fine but on xbone party chat did not work with the game. The beta was amazing dont get me wrong, and i am looking forward more then ever to the day i actually get to play the full thing, these are just points that caught my attention and could use improvement

  • 1-2 drowning and invisible walls: to that i would also die falling off a cliff when you clearly see a piece of land that is close enough to not cause fall damage. The way it is...it should at least not count as a death where bounties are concerned as the limits of the play field in some places kinda seem a bit random. 3:loot: I would also add that only being able to equip 1 weapon and 1 armor of the highest level of rarity is kinda strange in a game where all you will do is hunt down exotic gear after not too long. I mean....instead of giving 2-3-4 skills per item they should have given only one and offered different bonuses so you can equip a full set and not get one then just stop playing because no point in getting more loot. That's probably the most incredulous thing i have read about this game so far. 4:AI. Well my issue with the AI applies more to the explorable areas then during missions. In explorable areas it's more of an MMO type AI where they all stand there for no reason waiting for you to stomp or ignore them. In missions there was more flanking...although the higher number of enemies might be giving the illusion of strategy, still fun though. 5: social: let me put it this way..if there was no raid where you really need 6 players in your team to even load them up....i would not care, but since there is the Dev went the lazy way and used social media as a crutch to proper in-game social features. If your not the kind of person who likes to join clans and find people in forums...don't play Destiny is the message i am getting. Also...why do i need to have people in my PSN friend list and not in a in-game destiny list....again...laziness.

    • 1. While yes it is ridiculous that you drown in water it saves them from having to create a pointless animation 2. While I can agree that bungie should have said it differently there is going to be boundaries. The earth isn't surrounded by mountains like skyrim. 3.the loot system will probably be tweeted for final release. The phrase earn your loot us mostly used as the reason for no trading system. 4. I don't know what people are expecting in regards to the AI. There are things they hopefully fix but overall I think it's fine. 5. I'd be surprised if they didn't fix aspects if in game chat, like pvp teams and make it easier to firm fireteams. I don't particularly care about proximity chat, maybe for the tower.

      • Agree with all of these except for the "socialization" part. I would prefer them to keep it how it is because all it will be is little kids screaming and saying dumb shit in their mics and other people blasting music in their mics only playing half attention to the game. It gets old after awhile and if you really want to talk to someone in the game, just invite them to a party. As for the others, the loot system needs to be fixed or redone and the "if you can see it, you can go there" is clearly bullshit. Bungie promised these things and doesn't deliver. Don't know why they mentioned it if it's not possible. Just pisses fans off.

            • The invisible wall, and the places like where I was standing above an area, decided to leap down into the water and died are irritating. I also agree with the enemies. Hopefully in the full game at least the later enemies will show some tactics and training.

            • The A.I seemed smart to me, dregs would lure you into ambush, and the flying thing would flank the -blam!-ing shit out of you if you weren't paying attention. And drowning makes sense to me, all the planets have been terraformed so you don't need a space suit to breathe, which means our armor probably isn't air tight, and idk about you but I'm -blam!-ing drowning in a couple hundred pounds of armor and weapons.

              • 1. That's Bungie 2. Hopeful won't be that way In release As programming barriers and life Sap is not to invasive 3. Agree you should have to contribute for loot 4. While it was loot it was not a reward system based on performance. It was a random incentive for pvp 5. Agreed should be more social

              • Bungie games have always killed you when you go under water. It's just a thing. I agree about loot in Crucible. Looks purely random to me More socialization is needed in this social game.

              • I actually thought the AI was quite good. Long range fighters found high ground drags and such like only attacked in groups or retreated to the captain when you pressed them if there was one still alive. The invisible melee type vandal tried to flank on both sides or waited till you turned the attacked. If they couldn't hit you or get near you they all went to cover looking for a flank and sometimes found a good one. The AI will always make mistakes but I really thought bungie made a great one with lists of ways of handling they and they would change tactics depending on what you did. Watch a gameplay again and really look at what the AI is doing!

              • 1 & 2) does that even matter? That is the explorable map, what use you have for swimming? 3) yes, low grade loot is random. And yes green things are random. This don't make this will be the same for legendary and exotic equip. For crucible it work in the only way it have meaning to work for the sake of the game. Completely random. It sucks to be the leading player of your team and see the drop go to the one with 0 kills but it's needed like that. Otherwise pro players will end equipping too fast and low skill players will not join since it'd be pointless since they can't hope for any loot. So for both quantity of players in PvP and longevity this is the best choice 4) let's see how is the challenge at higher lvl. I expect pro players to remember that that content is still meant to be tackled by ppl that had trouble with beta's strike mission 5) so much true

                • I have to agree with you when it comes to the loot drops in crucible. It didn't seem to make sense at all.(My following opinion is biased) I consistently placed 1st place both in control and in the special iron banner event. And yet I would get nothing beyond common items or ice crystals. But a teammate who was constantly at the bottom got rare ingrams and even a legendary ship. I've never seen a game that rewards players that do terrible instead of those that place 1st.

                  • People on this forum read this please. You played a beta. Loot drops were accelerated so yea you did get more than u were suppose to. That included PvP and iron banner. The social aspect is what they wanted so deal with it. The drowning I never experienced. The AI all were designed to fight a certain way. I know most gamers are coming from CoD and are used to Ai with the accuracy of William Tell if he was a Jedi. So stop the whining and remember it was a beta. And all the things you people named are minor. And before you complain about the explorablity (its a word today damnit!)name another free roam fps that's bigger than Destiny. And no Borderlands itsnt bigger derps.

                    • Other people have cover the other issues....I'l tackle the AI All those things you are talking about WERE in the beta....did you not play PvE...or did you not recognzie them when you saw them. Each species had their own brand of combat. The Fallen were basically the Covenant from Halo. They wern't good at flanking, but they were good at evading fire in the open and making smart use of available cover. The HIve, OTOH, were better tactically. The Thralls were extremely smart in minimizing the damage they took from grenades, moving around obstacles to get to you. I had a number of them run around objects and grenades. Even hunker down in an effort to minimize the damage they took as a group. Like the Fallen, the lower level Hive soldiers made smart use of cover and struck a balance between agression and self-protection. The Hive Knights, OTOH, often took advantage of their superior powe to simply rush you and kill you up close. The one limitation that there was in the AI was a tendency for AI enemies to "foxguard". IOW, occupy certain areas of the play space and not come after you if you leave it. This was a necessary concession to SOLO play. There were many battles where---if the AI did not exhibit this behavior that any solo player would have been quickly overwhelmed and killed. So it is necessary, but it lessens quite a bit at higher difficulty settings. Therefore---I found the AI in Destiny to be ANYTHING BUT mindless "bullet sponges". I found them to be one of the most aggressive---yet playable---AI opponents in any shooter I've played.

The part where all the hive run out the door They all just run in a straight line to their deaths Instead they should spread out .. And use the cover more so they don't die so fast

                          • While I don't disagree with anything I will say ai are usually always dumb down. I mean that in a way if they were free to be as difficult as they wanted no game would be fun at all. Think about if the fallen with guns acted like the hive. Ten of them would rush you while firing their weapons totally obliterating you. now try five more times and spike your controller.

                          • Creating the animations for swimming costs quite a bit extra. It takes a lot more time to make those animations, and if it's for a feature that will be rarely used if at all then it can be more cost effective to just leave it out. Why put asp of that effort into something that a vast majority of players will never use? The invisible wall/ceiling is annoying, but they clearly didn't want players climbing certain roofs/objects, and I guess that was an easy way to enforce that. The lot thing is because loot is earned, but also shared in a fireteam/public event, so if you were nearby when loot spawned then you can collect said loot. As for multiplayer, I have no idea. I though it was for when your score or kill ratio differed strongly from your average. But I could be wrong.

                            • Definitely some nice points and made constructively, not just whining like so many posts I've checked out. As far as the water/invisible walls, I don't know why they didn't already just put in there "The Darkness is too powerful in this area, turn back", as the permeating Darkness is the perfect cover story for blocking off anywhere you can't go yet. What would be awesome is if they made it so we had some kind of group community events where we had to kill so many millions of certain creatures that were connected to the darkness when they do minor updates to add new areas/sections, so that the community has a sense of 'earning' the new content. I know many weren't fans of ME 3, but I enjoyed it, and the multiplayer in that did some interesting community events, that if you succeeded/failed it would change things for the following week/weeks til the next event. Altering things like the percentage of types of enemies in certain areas/missions. Would be awesome to see things like... damn, just realized I'm ranting and going off topic. Sorry I'm a train of thought/typing person. As far as the loot thing, were things dropping just because you were in proximity, or were you in a fireteam, and since you were part of that, it maybe counted kills by any of your teammates as if you were doing it too? As far as the pvp part goes, maybe it keeps track of your success through multiple sessions and eventually rewards you? While someone great at pvp increases their chance for loot drops an gets an item every 3rd match, maybe even bad players would still get one on their tenth match just for contributing? Just an idea... I'm betting the AI will be far better in the higher levels of difficulty, and I agree with some of the other posters that have already left comments, that the AI already does some clever things, and more realistically looks for you, instead of just you having a mystical bullseye on your head that sends out signals so the AI is always mowing you down. But I guess we'll see soon enough (but not soon enough in my opinion..haha) And about the socialization I agree it would be awesome if there is more interactivity (and I really think the full game will have far more available), as long as it is optional. Some people will not like the proxy chat, and such, so hopefully there is a disable/mute option for those that want it.

                              • The crucible has random drops for everyone so that everyone has a chance to earn loot. That way even if you suck at the game, you still have a little bit of a reason to go there, otherwise, people who are really good with their class would get all the loot and it would be pointless for everyone else

                                • To address number 3. I think a random item drop in the crucible is fine but I think it would be better if it rewarded players more on contribution. Like the higher the contribution the higher the chance of getting loot and the better the contribution like MVP the higher the chance of get uncommon and rare loot drops
