Hand Cannon Trigger Pull Speed

This poll is to gain exposure for a small change to the hand cannon that would create a niche for the weapon in PVP and PVE. From AustinSX, we would like to have the hand cannon shoot as fast as the trigger is pulled. This would balance the weapon for PVP without the need to tweak the damage and make it relevant as a primary weapon against the faster rifles/machine guns. The short clip is the limiting factor here. Right from the get go I've been a hand cannon fan, even as a Warlock. It's a great way to play Destiny in both PVE and PVP, the kills are so rewarding. And honestly, who doesn't want to feel like a badass gunslinger in space? Can't wait to throw down again in the crucible.   • Hand cannon has such little ammo compared to rifles. If they up the max ammo on it and tone it down a bit it'd be perfect.

  • Given it's a six round revolver. I'd like a buff to damage. You're not going to get more than 6 shots before reload. Maybe a slightly faster reload speed. Then give it 3x headshot damage. That would balance it out.

    • There is an Exotic Hand Cannon which fires just like that. Implement them in ALL hand Cannons would require a major rework. First, they would have to reduce the Damage and prolly up the Stability.

        Am i the only person that wants the hand CANNON to be more... Cannon-like? Come on people, the hand cannon is a special weapon, through and through. Here is my final view on the hand cannon. The theory: Switch it over to special weapon, and give it the same damage as a sniper, and take away aim assist. Also, take a little range away, as they shouldnt have the range of a sniper. At this point, you have hand cannons as pocket sniper, and feels right. And now for the second part: move snipers to heavy slot. This is where i loose a lot of people, as EVERYONE loves sniping in thier own way. But you have the hand cannon as that role. Also, give snipers a chance to have a one shot body shot, if applied to the heart. The hopeful result: balance and variety can rejoice in harmony. I realize these are 2 big changes. They would have to rebalance pve damage, but i truly believe that this would fix things. In practice we would have a long, medium, and short range option for every slot. I would love to see this tested, but i am not awesome enough to be a game developer on possibly the greatest game of all time. I want each weapon slot choice to be a game changer. I think this change could allow many more play styles, and give each gamer his own flavor. On a side note: I think each rifle should look much, MUCH different than they do. They all look the same to me. And also, allow weapon swapping in the tower. Just to show your special on your back would be asthetically pleasing.

          • cant really tweak damage. im sure bungie is working on it i hope they release info so ppl shut up about it. The problem is everything but damage. 7 in the mag/faster default rld speed/higher RoF/more range(less than scout farther than auto)

            • if the fire rate was buffed then the recoil would still be an issue. even when i used the hand cannon in the beta i had to space my shots to readjust because of the recoil. either buff speed and reduce recoil or just increase power. I think the latter would be better, but we have yet to see the rare, legendary, and exotic hand cannons. patience is a virtue my friends. :D

              • I think we should wait and see how hand cannons perform beyond level 8. Maybe they'll have really cool versions that make them just as good as the other primary options. Kinda like the pulse rifles we've seen. Heck, that paired with hunter perks may make them top picks for the class as a whole! I'm excited to see the possibilities.

                  I can accept a faster ROF. However, "fast as you pull the trigger" is not something I want for it. As a guy who flutters the trigger quite well, I can tell you how quickly that could turn any semi automatic weapon into a broken mess of OP.

                  • Well not a good idea at all because you up the fire rate, lower the dmg. It has to be balanced then. A faster reload in general or maybe a slightly faster fire rate would do the trick

                    • I feel that manual ROF is a very poor way to balance a weapon. Some will cheat with autofire etc, and other, older, players like me will be unable to make it perform since we cant match the speed of teens. IMHO the point of these weapons is slow, precise and powerfull damage. Not somehow getting higher ROF than the full autos

                        • Awesome feedback guys, keep it up. I hear what you all are saying and it sounds like the hand cannon needs to balance between big damage and actual usability, definitely a lot of worries about it being OP if modified too much. In my experience with the beta it handled the way I expected it to, but lacked that final punch I wanted **could be due to low gear levels. It sounds like the hand cannon needs to fill a niche that rewards precision and skill with high damage points. Keep it Rollin, thanks! -Ra

Upping the rof won't help that. Calm, cool, well placed shots are what it's all about. If you up the rof you would have to lower the kick, and then you would just have a scout with a 6 rounds. I think it's more like a sniper without a scope. Big damage for precise shots. Just needs bigger crit damage to make up for the 6 rounds/ long reload.

                              Alot of these polls pigeonhole you on answering. I feel hand cannon damage should be tweaked but also would like faster follow up shots. However I cross my fingers and toes these will be addressed on higher end models.
