So don't use it as your primary. Would you rather lose your sniper, shotgun, or Pulse rifle to equip this? Honest question there not sarcasm. I have felt it lacking at times in the primary, but would not want it to take the place of a special.

  • Yes I would.

  • I'd definitely be willing to do that. I'd at least be able to clear out an area if I need to so I could switch back to whatever other secondary weapon I needed. I'd much rather lose a shotgun or sniper rifle than my scout rifle.

  • Then don't use the hand cannon if you like the scout that much. The handcannon does not compete at all with the shot gun, sniper, or fusion rifle those guns are on a league of their own the handcannon is perfect where it is.

  • What makes you say it has more of a place in the primary rather then the secondary, out of curiosity? Do you think it would fit in the special better if sniper were to be moved into the heavy spot?

  • I have used the handcannon since the start of the beta and can honestly say it has the potential to compete with the other primaries. I don't have that much skill at shooters and was able to go positive so I assume people with more skill can do better. Also I would not want to replace my shot gun with the handcannon I just feel like others can spare the handcannon for all those other options for the people who actually enjoy using it.

Why exactly did you use the hand cannon? I couldn't think of a reason to use it seriously when compared to the scout rifle. The increase in impact just didn't compare to the loss in range, reload, clip size, and rate of fire in my mind. Edit: I'm actually hoping to find a reason to use the thing. I think it's really cool.

  • I used it because I don't play meta game I don't think it is the weapon that causes success but the user. Also I have always loved revolvers and trigun just cemented my love.

  • I would be willing to replace my secondary weapons with a handcannon if the sniper were a heavy weapon (not necessarily for this sniper move, just not really against it). What I'm currently unwilling to do is replace my primary weapons with a handcannon. The only time I currently use handcannon as opposed to an auto or scout rifle is when I wanna feel fancy in explore mode. It's a good weapon, just, in my opinion, not right for replacing a primary.

  • Fair enough. That is your opinion, and I can respect it. In my case I like that it forces me to fight at range. Combine it with a sniper rifle, and I have forced myself to commit to a mid to long distance combat role. (I use the void grenade in case I get in trouble, but that can save me only once every 30 seconds or so.) By doing this I change how I move through the map, which points I try to defend or attack, and when I use the sparrow. All this might seem foolish, but it can really help your team to know someone is always on overwatch, and cannot get side tracked with CQC encounters.

  • I know what you mean! I actually play that role in my family fireteam. I usually have a scout rifle in primary, the sniper in special, and a rocket launcher in heavy. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to having my scout rifle in the primary, the handcannon in the special (for when someone wanders into mid-range), and a sniper in the heavy. This seems to really be coming down to different handcannon play-styles between the two of us.

  • Sorry I meant fusion rifle. Since you have to charge it up Pulse seems like the better name. I would call the pulse rifle the burst rifle or something like that.
