does it make me a bad person that I care about my kill to death ratio?

I love playing crucible. Sure some games I get my ass handed to me, but a fair amount of the time I find myself in the top 3 of the match. My kd ranges between 2.15-2.30 and I'm trying to push it higher as I like to look good in the crucible. Does this make me a bad person? I love PvP and PvE equally but to me I want my PvP stats to impress :)

  • I have always liked to have a high KD, but I also like to win, and it's impossible to win an objective based game without caring about the objective. Now, I'm not necessarily saying you have to cap every objective. That is actually detrimental in my opinion. People should be more focused on capping and defending rather than capping and hauling ass to the next flag. That ends up in a never ending ring around the rosey type situation, which is really annoying to me. My two friends and I play together and at first we sucked, but we got a lot better the more we played. We all fell into our roles. I was up close and personal, one of my friends was a mid-range support guy who would help me clear out a point and then cap, and my other friend was basically a sniper who would hold down choke points and defend flags. After we found that synergy, we began winning probably 80% of our games and all had very high KDR. So, the moral of the story is, find some friends you play well with and you should be able to have a high KD as well as a high WL. That is far more impressive than a 2.5 KDR and .4 WL.

  • I care about KD but not enough to ignore the obj. I'm obj, team player firsts KD/A is more appealing to me.

  • I wouldn't care about mine if it wasn't the highest I've had on FPS games :D

        • Nope... I use it to see how my gameplay is working, if it goes up, I'm doing something right...if it goes down, it means I'm doing something wrong and has to re-think my gameplay and play style.. so I like it in that way :)

        • Not at all. My one complaint about this is in game modes where k/d should not be priority and your team loses because it is all some people care about. An easy remedy for this that has never been implemented in any shooter is in these type of objective based game modes shut off k/d ratio. Do not have kills count for anything more than bonus points. Do not have kills and deaths count toward your overall k/d ratio unless its a game mode where it matters like deathmatch, lone wolf etc.

        • Nah... I care to a degree. But I only get kills because I always rush to objectives or "camp" at objectives. I don't like going negative, it doesn't make me feel good, at least when I play the objective all game. KD doesn't matter as much as helping your team win, but if you care for both you can get plenty of kills while defending flags.

        • It makes you a terrible person... if thats the only thing you are interested in when playing 'team' game modes. Personally I don't care too much about KDR, in 'team' modes I would rather win the game than get an outstanding KDR. Play the game for whatever makes you happy, be it a good KDR, high win ratio, most captures... whatever, just have fun and be part of the community! BECOME LEGEND

If you care about your kdr that's is your choice. As long as you don't be an asshat about it to others that may not give a monkeys about their kdr then you're golden. Like me. My kdr is likely terrible but I don't really care, I often capture more flags than anyone else so me doing that means folks with big kdr means more points for the TEAM

People seem forget hitler had and insane K/D but still never got that elusive "W".

                  • If you can pull 30+ kills a game while keeping a high kill death and staying 1st or 2nd in the leaderboards every game, then you are the top 1% of destiny players and you should send me a message so we can play together on release.

                    • I don't care about your K/D ratio at all and i don't care about your W/L ratio at all. It doesn't matter how many crap players you killed or how many crap teams you rofl stomped. If you did it all with coordinated teammates against unorganized teams i'd care even less. Even bringing a lone buddy with you to help watch your back would make me care less which is hard to do when you don't care at all. The only way you'd impress me is if you killed me in a shoot out and not just once. First time i'd be mad at myself, but if you killed me again then i'd consider you a more worthy enemy than the rest.

                          • Play how u want that's my opinion. Some K/D addicts only drive vehicles and brag about it, others camp far enough away from objectives its not worth it to most players to engage them. Then there are those that are just that good, I guess the "try hard" tag is overused but that's the difference. If you are actually trying really really hard to keep your k/d up and get frustrated when you don't go 2.0 or better then your a k/d addict. But if you constantly do very well without even really noticing have fun every match, then k/d is icing on the cake. Very thick, frosty and sweet icing....
