Why it should be a wipe when the Beta ends.
Here's some reasons there should be a complete wipe of guardians and progress when the beta ends.
First, Everyone should start on equal terms.
I know people who skipped Beta but are going to play the full release alot. I want to play with them, cuz it's fun you know .
I'm pretty sure a select percentage of PvE-oriented people want to go all in to get world firsts on raids legendary difficulty.
I know it's just a few hours headstart, but that could make all the difference..
Also, who knows what's been changed in the full version from what we're playing right now? Beta builds are usually a few month old and pretty much could've been changed in the full version.
As for the arguements that includes "We should get something for playing the beta", we do. We'll get something no one else will get.
"But I spent so much time grinding for this and that, It sucks if I dont get to keep it" really? It's not like Bungie forced you to play with a gun to your head, And I bet you'd play just as much even if you knew you would'nt get to keep anything.

No, you didn't. You payed 100 bucks for the full game, the guaranteed beta-invite was just a pre-order bonus.

[/quote]Who said things were supposed to be fair? If fairness was actually a goal of the game, the no-lifers would be limited in their per-day play time. Also; why does it matter if the characters transfer over? You get more than one character slot, just start fresh. Having the characters transfer affects you none; unless you let it. Besides, there's nothing wrong with having a leg-up on the competition, and it would be kind-of neat recognition that you were a Beta Tester. Pure vanity, sure. But still cool. So are you saying that people that start playing at midnight should be reset until I get to play so we can start equally? Or better yet, after one year everything in the game should be reset because it wouldn't be fair to people that skipped the game the first year and bought it the second. They'd be a whole year behind, so everybody else should be deleted so we start equal. [/quote]In which case you should be saying, "Everything should carry over UNLESS something substantial (i.e. leveling progression rate) is modified in a meaningful way." That would be much more logical than just saying, "Reset everything just in case something could be changed ever." Again, what you're saying just doesn't make sense, mate.

It should transfer, everyone gets to play now, so why not?

There should be no carryover . The beta is only 8 lvls all the weapons and armor arent worth a dam at this lvl anyways it took me 4hrs at most to get there.

Cosmetics should stay (cloaks, butt capes, the other one, emblems, ships) but everything else say good bye. A lot of the stuff we got was through accelerated leveling and if you grinded for exotics... thanks for being a dedicated TESTER

I feel that we should be able to keep uncommon and rare items I dont care if I lose my level 8 characters because its soo easy to level up playing the story.

What does it matter if it gets wiped or not? If it doesn't you will always have people who can put more time into the game than you or just get plain lucky with loot. If you want to start from scratch then do so.

... Because that's what happens. It's called a Beta TEST for a reason. Anyone with programming experience knows that bringing over Data from a dev or QA environment to a production environment could create some major issues

7 RepliesHonestly if you have ever played and MMO a few days does not give you a head start at all within a month everything will be equaled out and the top ayers will be the top regardless. I could honestly care less about what bungie does after the beta but either way saying a head start will make things uneven is stupid.

here's what they should do let us keep our Guardians, but reset them back to level 1, with a fully cleaned out inventory, minus any bonus items they may give our Guardians on day one such as emblems and Ghost shells

I think level progress and items should definitely be wiped. I see no harm in carrying over some things like the same character skin. Vanity items like the ship and possibly progress from the shopping things. Also the grimoire unlocks, as soon the beta ends we will know almost immediately what will not carry.

Yep! I mean it would be nice to keep the Kestral Class CX0 ship I purchased for 2000 "Glimmer", but it's easy enough to earn that by completing quests and salvaging items. Although, unless Bungie plan to do something with ships at a later stage, if it is just a cosmetic change to the ship, just reset characters to level one and you regain the ship once you reach the tower again. Still not complaining. Enjoyed playing the game, wouldn't mind doing it all again. Wipe/Don't Wipe fully your choice Bungie.

Agreed. I'm also inclined to have them wipe the data rather than carry over. I'd rather start fresh with the knowledge of the game that I have. And sure I'll probably recreate the exact same character as I have now, but so be it. I get that a lot of people have invested a lot of time into this beta. But if people played the beta for hours, it is because they chose to whilst knowing full well that there's a very real chance that progress would be wiped clean. This shouldn't be a reason to carry data over. Should you get some sort of reward for playing the Beta? Well all preorders already get some in game rewards like gear etc. Plus we'll get that emblem for playing the beta on a certain time. Should this be enough? Well yes I think so. Besides, beta players already have another advantage: they know the game. Beta players will probably blaze through the beginning of the game due to the hands on experience. Whereas other players will most likely be slowed down due to discovering every basic thing Destiny has to offer. This Beta should offer the fans a fun experience and a decent look at what the full game might have to offer. We all get a nice preview and a decent head start (experience wise) for the retail version. And I am totally psyched to get ready and create some new awesome Guardians.
