Persistent centipede errors on sign on after being able to play without issue

[b]Update: If you have been blocked by recurring Centipede errors after having been able to play successfully (#3 below), we are applying a fix that will resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the solution will reset your characters. This is expected to happen over the next few hours. [/b] WORKAROUND: To ensure that you no longer hit this issue, do not delete characters after using the vault in the tower. Original Post: We've been investigating the reports of centipede errors that have been popping up on the forums. There are a few ways you can hit centipede errors. 1. I have never connected and get centipede when I try to sign on 2. I randomly get centipede when I play [b][u]3. I was able to play just fine, and all of a sudden I get centipede errors all the time and can't sign in[/u].[/b] 1 and 2 appear to be networking issues. This thread is concerned with [b]#3[/b]. #3 is an issue that we're tracking internally that I want to get more info about. Based on user reports and assistance, we identified a timing issue having to do with swapping quickly items between characters using the tower vault. We applied a fix and did some fixup of a number of affected users. However, not all affected users could be fixed up. So we're continuing to investigate solutions. We suspect there may be more ways to hit this error, and we need your help to find them. If you were at some point able to play [b]after the maintenance period[/b], but then were blocked from signing on due to centipede errors, please reply to this post with the following: 1. Gamertag / Online ID of all affected profiles (send this to me in a PM if you're not comfortable posting this information publicly) 2. What was the last time you were able to properly sign in and play (date, time and time zone) 3. What was the last time you tried to sign in and got centipedes (date, time and time zone) 4. Had you used the account vault at all between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 5. Have you deleted any characters between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 6. if you had not done 4 or 5, please give as detailed an account of your play between when you last played, and when you started seeing centipede errors.

  • So after being locked out for 2 days, I just find it funny that there will be people who didn't pre-order the game and will get the beta stuff and others like me who did and got locked out will simply have to accept missing out on it.

    • According to the companion app I no longer have any characters but I still can't start the game. I only get as far as the screen that says "press x".

      • I have had consistent instances of centipede, with lion, bee, canary, anteater, fly and marionberry thrown in for good measure. I have recently replaced my modem, router and all the wiring to the post outside. All my other connections are stable. I have no specific times, but many times today between 1pm & 2.30pm PST. NAT is open Xbox one. Never used vault. Deleted lvl 8 toon. All to no avail.

      • 18 hours of centipede errors on Xbox One after days of no issue. I tried the Xbox 360 beta and got the same thing. I linked my PSN account to my Bungie.net account, and tried the PS3 version, and it worked. So I'm only locked out on Xbox Live. (which is where I will play at release)

I have not deleted any characters 6. I was able to play fine last night, but when I tried to pay today I was able to connect and log in but got disconnected after about 15 minutes with a centipede error. I tried to reconnect after that but was unable to. I then tried to play again at about 5:45 pm I was not able to connect, I reconnected my PS4 to my router and was then able to connect to the Destiny servers and log in but, was disconnected again after about 10 minutes with a centipede error.

      • Bungie should extend the beta for everyone affected by the centipede error. Also, for some reason, it always disconnects me from destiny during 1 pm - 10 pm. It always gives me the Centipede AND Canary errors. I've been on the phone to Virgin and they said that my connection is perfectly fine, whereas on Xbox One, I get disconnected every 5 minutes. The longest time I have been on for is the time of an average Crucible match. Has this happened to anyone else?

          • 5:12pm eastern time I was in the middle of the moon mission and a friend joined our firesquad and as that happened my connection was lost and now I get centipede messages when I try to log back on my psn is NovaHellfire345 until now I had no issue with the beta and now during the moat important part of it I cant play this is absurd and if I dont get my reward and my characters I will be pissed this is ridiculous my friends have no issues and im on a great internet there is nonreason for this error

            Looks like this is DoA. Bungie is notorious for shoddy netcode on "AAA" games. Guess my money's going to Elder Scrolls Online.
