It's one of their last chances at Halo proving COD was a fluke. That they didn't waste years of memorizing the maps and that getting 50s wasn't a complete waste of time in respects to the present year. They can say they had fun all they want, but Halo can only grasp onto nostalgia and slowly dying dedicated servers on PC instead enjoying the solid backing and appeal COD enjoys from Activision's marketing and yearly distribution of one more new COD game while Halo4 to 5 drags on. They had to watch their franchise bend to COD while COD really never changed, and even now with it embracing Sci-Fi elements It cements a nagging doubt that COD will even out sci-fi Halo.

    I agree with most of this, and I'm not disturbed by the notion that Halo is fading into the background. I've loved Halo since the 2nd game. Sure, Halo 5 has a chance to be a good enough game. And sure, I think that the whole "halo vs cod" thing was conjured by complete idiots. But I definitely admit that the main appeal to me of the MCC is the feeling of nostalgia, and not much else worth mentioning. The same feeling(paired with a shit eating grin) I get when watching old videos of Halo 2 multiplayer. The same feeling many other people will get when they pick up a copy. But, they're also aiming at the newer Halo players that haven't played a lot of these halos yet, to a lesser extent. Halo 4 is what people like to call 343i's first halo game--you get my point here. They took some hints from the feedback of Halo 4. I think that they're hoping that in making the collection a key to the Halo 5 beta, they might get better input on the mechanics from both old and new players. The potential is there for Halo 5--probably not to be the best Halo, but definitely to be much better than Halo 4(Halo 4 was shit). Halo probably can't and/or won't "keep up with cod".
