He's right, though. Seriously, I don't understand everyone's problem. How often do you have people over to play? I'm sure they own the game and a console to play it on. It's not like consoles are difficult to unplug and carry around. Jesus, some #Destiny users are so entitled.

  • By the way, never played Halo more than once or twice. Do you consider it a demanding game? Any of them at all?

  • Well some people share a console with 3 brothers, so yes, it is often a problem.

  • I have 5 siblings who all game. When we couldn't split screen (which was most of the time, back in the day) we took turns. It's called sharing. If it's really a problem for you, buy your own d*mn console. It only takes a few hours to work for that kind of cash, especially if you're still living with your parents and don't need to buy anything else. I swear, kids today have no incentive to work, they just expect money from their parents. (Not really directed at you, just in general.)

  • I am 17, and I work nearly 35 hours a week tryin to pay for college. So yes, buying a new console is a problem, seeing as our current one was a gift. I'm fine with sharing. I've had to for 17 years. But it'd be fun to do the devils lair with two of my brothers, instead of each of us switching off for an hour at a time, and not being able to play together.

  • I'm sure it would be fun to do with your brothers, and like I said, if you so crave it, you have 3 months to put away money for a new console. But unfortunately, crying about not getting split screen isn't the answer. I'm sure it would be fun for those who use it, yes, but to the rest of us, we don't care. And neither does Bungie.

  • I already told you, putting all money toward college. So I have no money to save for console. And I'm not whining about it, just saying it'd be a good thing. And you brought up a good point "the rest of us don't care". So why, if it would be an optional thing, are so many people vehemently against it?

  •
I already told you, putting all money toward college.
You can't put away $15 every paycheck towards a console? Let's be real here: you're not putting every single penny you earn towards college. Instead of buying that can of soda or that candy bar, save the extra $2 here and there. It adds up.
And you brought up a good point "the rest of us don't care". So why, if it would be an optional thing, are so many people vehemently against it?
If it's an optional thing, I've no problems with it. The problem is the community complaining about it. Statistically, only 1/10 gamers use split-screen regularity. Kind of a lot to accommodate for at the expense of graphical fidelity... And I'd rather good and smooth gameplay over accommodations for the minority any day of the week.

  • Yeah, but if the entire game is fine graphics and fidelity wise, and there is a small, optional part that is changed for split screen, I don't see a problem. And yes, having to pay for my own education, even with scholarships costs a lot. I'm currently still with my parents, so I don't need to buy food, and I don't.

  •
Yeah, but if the entire game is fine graphics and fidelity wise, and there is a small, optional part that is changed for split screen, I don't see a problem.
That's the point the developers are trying to make: it's impossible to do that. You want all the graphical fidelity that comes with the game, and you want the split-screen. You canon have both. These next-gen consoles can only barely support 1080p and you're asking Bungie to double the pixel count to allow for maximum fidelity and dual-screens. For split-screen to work, you would have to split the screen in half. No matter what, the actual TV will still be in 1080p. That means that each screen, bottom and top, will have half the number of pixels it usually has. That's NOT what Bungie wants (which is what we're talking about when I say "maximum graphical fidelity".) For there to be equal resolutions on both screens (1080p on the bottom, 1080p on the top), these next-gen consoles would have to be able to support 1440p(?) or more. And if these consoles could support that, why wouldn't they (Bungie) make the game's native resolution that, instead of saving it for split-screen? Do you see the irrationality of your (and many others) thinking?
And yes, having to pay for my own education, even with scholarships costs a lot. I'm currently still with my parents, so I don't need to buy food, and I don't.
I'm saving for post-secondary education, too. I can still afford luxuries like consoles, even at minimum wage ($10.30). I feel like you're making excuses for yourself to support your own argument.

No, I mean make a seperate part where it runs at 900 or 720p. And no, it's not that the consoles can't support it, because the ps4 has a native output option at 1440. There are options to implement it. And I don't know where you work, but min wage here is a little over 7$. Also, there is an option on the ps4 to set the graphical quality to whatever your tv can handle. I'm able to tell it to output at 360 or 720p on a 1080 tv.

  •
No, I mean make a seperate part where it runs at 900 or 720p.
Do you not understand that Bungie wants the game to look it's best at all times? Sure, they could handle 720p or even 900p sliced, but they don't want to because it wouldn't be the full experience of the game.
And no, it's not that the consoles can't support it,
Yes, it is. TV output and game output are different things.
And I don't know where you work, but min wage here is a little over 7$.
The Canadian dollar is worth less. I make the same as you.
Also, there is an option on the ps4 to set the graphical quality to whatever your tv can handle. I'm able to tell it to output at 360 or 720p on a 1080 tv.
Yes, I'm aware. However, the PS4 objectively cannot handle anything above 1080p, unless it's something below 30 FPS, which is basically just a slide show.

  • And the Canadian dollar is currently at a 1.08 exchange rate, isn't it? Meaning it is nowhere near the same as me.

  • It's worse than that, I assure you. Minimum wage isn't more than what I'm making, it's only because I'm a minor. I'm making minimum for what minors can make, not minimum wage. Besides, I'm pretty sure you're not making $7. That's nigh-child labour.

  • Yes, it can. My friend has a tv that can run 1440p ad the ps4 handles it fine. And my point is that if a large portion of the community wants a portion of the game to run at a lower graphical setting, what is the problem? A lot of people don't even have Tvs that can handle 1080 or even 720 anyways, so the high graphics are lost.

  • Are you daft? Just because the PS4 can run on a 1440p TV does NOT mean it supports 1440p for gaming. Movies are MUCH easier to run than video games. You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

  • Well then explain how the alpha ran on the TV, at a 1440p setting. I realize it was up scaled because bungie only made destiny at 1080, but it handled it fine with no frame rate drop. It also runs BF4, Killzone, and ACBF just fine at 1440.

  • The games themselves DO NOT run at 1440p. They are upscaled, you even said it yourself. That just means the pixels are expanded to fit the screen, it doesn't actually mean that the TV is showing 1440 pixels.

  • Yes, but you said earlier that the system can hardly handle 1080p. That is totally wrong. It can, has a setting for it, and when a game made for 1440p comes out, it'll run fine at 30frames.

Yes, it can hardly handle 1080p. For games. Excuse me for thinking we were talking about a gaming console. No, it's upscaled. For games. I'm not quite sure about movies, but I'm fairly sure it can't handle anything above 1080p as most movies are.

  • I realize it is up scaled. But it has absolutely no problem at 1080 and 60 frames. And up scaling, it has no problem either, with games, I fail to see why, when one is made, it would have no problem with playing it at 30 frames. I don't know about movies either. I have no idea.
