Game of Thrones HBO Fan Fiction

I have a question: is the Game of Thrones fan fiction that has been airing on HBO the first ever fan fiction that has been adapted by such a large company? I don't think I've ever seen fan fiction adapted before -- usually companies work with the source material and create a show based off of it, not create their own fan fiction that is horribly inferior to the real product. I do have to say, though, I really loved how Tyrion and Jaime have a bro-hug in the latest episode. When I read that scene in the novels the one thought I had in my head was "hmm... i wish they could just be friends :( ", and I'm happy that HBO fulfilled my wish by cutting out all the drama and adding the bro-hug. Frankly, it doesn't even matter that they -blam!-ed up Jaime and Tyrion's arcs. Also, the draugr fight scene? That was badass. I'm really glad they decided to do a crossover with Skyrim -- we even have Leaf use that fireball destruction magic. Thank you HBO for fulfilling my wishes once again. But in all, no Lady Stoneheart was undoubtedly the best part. I am very glad they cut her out, and I hope she does not appear in later seasons. Maybe instead the Brotherhood Without Banners can find Ned Stark's decapitated body and revive him instead, and we can get Lord Stoneheart. I actually believe they might end up doing that, based on what else they did this episode. HBO's Game of Thrones fan fiction show is certainly the best show on television, and I believe everyone should watch it just to experience it. You won't miss out.
-blam!- you D&D
I lol'd. Yeah they pretty much chucked the book out of the window for a lot of the episode, although the end results are still roughly the same as the book. Episode related/Book linked spoilers (Nothing that wasn't in the episode tonight)
The hound 'dying' Bran getting to the tree Stannis saving the wall Tywin and Shae getting #memed by Tyrion It all ends up roughly how it did in the book, even if the events that led to it were a little different.
