• Above the industry average: >USA: 5 manufactures >Japan: 7 manufactures, and I'm counting Acura even though they're made in the US and were originally an American company. Also I believe Mazda is owned by Ferd now >Germany: 3 >Britain: 1, and Jaguar is owned by an Indian company now so I am doing it a favor by calling it British lol inb4muhbadge

  • You are saying Jaguar isn't British because some indians bought it? Wow you are dumb

  • Most of the car is manufactured in Germany, it hasn't been owned by the Brits for the better part of 20 years, and they're only mostly assembled at their plant in Britain. Ford is more british made than Jags are, face facts kiddo.

  • Just because they are owned by a foreign company it doesn't make them foreign, that's just absurd.

  • Did you not read my post or something Jags aren't the only culprit of this, but the majority of the "british" car industry is actually all mostly manufactured in Germany. The only thing british about it is the badge, some jags just have a final assembly plant in Britain. As I thought made clear in the previous post, Ford manufactures more of their cars in Britain today than a lot of "british" car makers.

  • Many parts in many plants come from different countries, doesn't mean they are not "Insert nationality here" because that's just daft. If the car is designed and built in a country then the parts they use doesn't change the nationality. Jag's have parts from Germany and Britain and other countries but it's still a British car and company. Pilkingtons Glass being one of the largest glass producers in the world (Found in my town) was bought out by a Japanese company but it's still British regardless.

  • Most of the US/Japanese/German auto makers all have vendors who make parts for them within their country. The british auto industry is the only group who has the entire under pinnings of their cars made in different countries, but if you want to call them British I guess that's your call. I'm not picking on the Brits or anything, but British Leyland was pretty awful for your auto industry 20 years ago. Hence why what's left of the auto industry over there is mostly owned by everyone else in the world now. Same goes for Chrysler here, and they're eventually going to be releasing some cars over here that are essentially Fiats with Chrysler badges on them.

  • What am I learning? The Range Rover uses the same V8 as the Jag, and the Jags V8 is built in Germany. The Mini Cooper that they used as a bench mark has been owned by BMW for years now. Still doesn't despite the fact that almost all big british manufacturers aren't owned by Brits anymore.

  • Learning that lots of countries use British parts as well (So much be Briitsh vehicles by your logic) like the BMW and Bugatti Veyron......even American cars use british engines. (Forc). And like I said ownership means nothing, anybody can buy a company it doesn't change the nationality of said company.
Jaguar Cars (/ˈdʒæɡjuː.ər/ JAG-ew-ər) is a brand of Jaguar Land Rover,[3] a British multinational car manufacturer headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, England, owned by Indian Tata Motors[4] since 2008..
See?

but the big 3, ford dodge and chrysler, are all below the industry average, and the only american manufacturers in the top 10 are luxury cars. not surprised.

  • >The big 3 >Ford, Dodge and Chrysler Chrysler owns dodge lol, and Ford is only below the industry average because of it's new infotainment system. They were above last year before it was introduced, which happens with every brand introducing new tech. Also, yea no one is exactly bragging about Chrysler anything. >The only ones at the top are Luxury I'd hardly call Lincoln and especially Buick luxury brands. Lincoln mostly offers slightly spec'd up Ford Fusions, and Buick is basically an economy brand with GM now.

  • I come from the land of /o/, he is piss water at best, but most idiots won't continue debating them if you run train on their ass. Plus this is a thread of interest, and I enjoy talking about cars.

  • Ford deserves to be slightly higher on the list. From what I heard most of the problems come from the infotainment system and not the car itself.

  • I was actually thinking about posting that, they were higher than that on the last dependability study. Cadillac dropped like 5 or 6 spots last year due to the CUE touch centers, but they appear to be working that out.

  • It really bothers me that people still think American cars are unreliable crap. Ford and GM have really stepped up their game. Even though I'm not a huge GM fan their line up looks pretty good, same with Ford.

  • GM really had to ball hard after the bailouts Ford and GM are leading the revitalization of the American car industry IMO. They've also recreated the horse power wars from the 60's. I've actually been a pretty big GM fan, and I am glad to say they've earned that enthusiasm with good cars. I keep telling myself that I will eventually own a late model C6 Z06 with the Z07 performance pack. Hopefully I can land a decent full time job soon, and I'll be saving for a year or two to possibly chase that dream. Lightly used Z06's of course lol, and maybe even a slightly older Z with a little left over to have some work done.

  • I really want a CTS-V wagon. What's not to love about a supercharged V8 Wagon. I agree with you about Ford and GM. Chrysler is ok. They're not as good IMO but they're at least trying to improve.

  • Yea as said in the other comment I made about American reliability, no one is bragging about Chrysler lol I do love the Vagons, and they're going to be incredibly rare collector cars going forward. GM only sold 800 or so every year they were in production, so that's around 2,400 Vagons ever made.
