Just to add to the thread
The car is essentially a stretched lotus chassis with a twin turbo LS7 strapped to it. A budget way to do this is to buy a used Z06 and build it up. Mind you it'd cost a lot of money, but it wouldn't get near the million dollar price tag of the Venom.

A good portion of that price tag is the huge amount of carbon fiber materials on it, methinks. That crap can get stupid expensive.

I think it's mostly due to the man hours and custom built parts for the drivetrain. Carbon Fiber is rather accessible now, it's not the 80's when the F40 first introduced carbon fiber to road going cars. You can get a 52K Corvette these days with carbon fiber bits on them, and same with 50K Camaro's/Mustangs. An LS7 alone is 15 grand, and then Hennessey is going to charge twice for what it costs for them to make it if they're decent business men.
-
Yeah. Still expensive. I saw a report on the ZR1 Corvettes on how a gallon of the UV protective coating for the carbon fiber roof was a few grand per gallon, if not more. Protecting the stuff costs quite a bit too. Also, I'm pretty sure probably 10-20% of that Million dollars is just having the name Hennesey on the thing. Paying for the name, so to speak.

60 grand to get the clear coat on the exposed carbon fiber, I believe we both watched that on Jay Lenos garage. Hennessey really does do some neat things, but you can get very similar work done at Lingenfelter for a cheaper price. Hennessey has really botched some car builds and told the owners to basically go -blam!- themselves, and I'm not making that up. Look up the first Hennessey GT-R build, it was a PR nightmare for them, and the same has happened with several other customers with various cars.

It also likely wouldn't get as fast as safely/reliably.
-
I wouldn't say that, I mean we are dealing with Hennessey... Lest we forget the several botched cars they have done over the years and basically -blam!-ed over paying customers and their cars. Also, it's literally a fully built GM drivetrain. Give a Z06 to Lingenfelter with a blank check and you'll get a virtually similar product for much less, and Lingenfelters builds are high quality. Although it wouldn't be as fast, but the average person can't make use of 1000+ HP to the rear wheels alone, so Lingenfelters 800 HP twin turbo build would be just as terrifying to drive lol.
