Very nice thread Progo, you'll be an "Illuminated Pillar" in no time, but you've smacked the bees nest with this. Speaking of bees, thats sort of how i see this community. On one hand we have the workers delivering the nectar (opinions) to the nest, and then some that decide to sting everything in defence of it. The Queen Bee is of course DeeJ, Queen DeeJ… In all seriousness though, my opinion is that the Mythic members of the community came here largely for Halo, but things have changed and Bungie has moved on to Destiny. With a new IP comes a new wave of fans (including myself), some of which have the potential to become legend and be as recognised as some of the more grizzled beasts on here today. My point is, let the new wave of fans in the community flourish along with the old. Give them a chance, hear them out, rather than concentrating on who's been here the longest, giving people titles for lengths of time like some kind of jail sentence shouldn't be a 'thing'. Of course trust is essential, so don't take it away, just put the spotlight on the guys that work the hardest and bring the most nectar back to the nest. Implementing things such as a 'Thread of the Week'? or 'PvP Hero' for the month, and basically providing a platform to stand on for members who work hard in game AND on the forums would be rewarding. Everyone likes a nice little badge or trophy for their profile too, showing off and proving how skilled or knowledgable they are, along with length of time on the frontline. Maybe I'm just ranting, maybe you guys agree, let me know. :)

  • Mythic Members ALL came from Halo. It was the highest base title available on the old site before the update last January that brought us here.

  • I don't think there were forums at the time of at least the first Marathon

[/quote] Actually, the Mythics are still here, in force ;) As for your concerns about belittling newer members, that's a very real issue. I'm pretty sure one of the reasons why titles went away was because Bungie wanted to see what would happen if all of their members were suddenly equal. But now that experiment has ended, with the return of year badges. What I want to be sure of is that players are not being placed on a pillar of light when they are incapable of being good role models for newer members. So allowing a very new member to have the highest tier title just because they are good at videogames would be a disaster since they would not have the sage minds of older community members. (though not all noobs skip the ToS, and some older members are absolute terrors haha) A good system would reward members who are recent recruits, but well behaved and helpful. (this applies to both you and me, I'm still relatively new here) But there should still be a way for a new member to see which person in the room is the one they should listen to.

Yeah, they need to strike a good balance between old and new, and skilled players with a sage mind should also be recognised. Certain new badges for your profile would show if you should be taken seriously and listened to. As for Mythic members i meant they originally joined the forums because of Halo, they're definitely still here of course :P but new members mostly join for Destiny.
