How has your clothing style changed as you got older?

When I was in elementary school and middle school, I used to wear baggy jeans, oversized tshirts, light colored clothing, and only white sneakers. In highschool I started wearing more tighter fit shirts, but still somewhat baggy jeans and white sneakers. Now I am 21, and I wear more tighter fit jeans (not skinny jeans), black sneakers (white if I am wearing shorts), and more darker colored shirts and collard shirts. I also recently started wearing V-necks, which I absolutely hated when I was younger. How has your style changed, if at all?

  • Product of the 90's, so my style has changed drastically throughout my life. Currently 23 and my style has finally settled on one solid look, and the women love it.

    • Elementary- cargo shorts, Nike shocks or basketball shoes, those shirts like "tough guys wear pink" or "save trees, no homework" Middle- I don't even remember. I think Bermuda shorts and generic tween shirts. High- started wearing v necks and skinny jeans and vans and snapbacks all the time. (I was one of them) Now- I wear a lot of button downs, no skinny jeans but slim fit ones (I'm really skinny so they look better than regular). If its hot, cargo shorts. Still rock the vans though.

    • Wore overalls as a kid before elementary school Elementary and middle school consisted of graphic tees, baggish jeans, payless sneakers, and denim shorts. 9th grade was similar but outgrew denim shorts for plaid shorts 10th to 11th grade was when I wore typical skater/surfer shoes, shirts, and shorts 12th grade to now consists of straight fit jeans, boat shoes, cargo shorts, polo-type shirts, and button-up shirts.

    • In elementary I wore T-shirts with pictures, like with Spongebob or those "my dog ate my homework" type. In middle school, I wore plain T-Shirts and usually baggy jeans. Staring high school, I started to wear more skinner jeans, but with the same shirt, plain.

Went from pretending I didn't give a shit, but only wearing jeans and concert tees. To actually not giving a shit and wearing $5 Walmart solid-color and 20 year old concert tees.

    • Not. Unless I'm trying really hard to impress people, I still wear comfy, baggy clothes. Only thing that changed is length of pants.

It changed for the better thank god. I used to be similar to OP except I wore freaking cargo trousers as well sometimes. Now I absolutely make sure all my clothing fits properly. I'm still assembling a solid wardrobe of basics as well as more niche items. I bought some well fitting t-shirts including my first v-neck which actually looks pretty sexy. I've got a bunch of collared jumpers so I'm ready for the colder months as well as a varsity jacket which I used to not really like but it's kind of grown on me. For trousers I only really like stuff that is at least slim fitting. Any more than that and I think they look ungainly. Suits are obviously an exception but slim can be good in that context as well. On my feet I either wear some white converse without toe-caps or some non-sneaker shoes like derbys or desert boots; I bought my first pair of those recently and they are sexy as hell. I really want some Common Projects sneakers because they are SO NICE but they are SO EXPENSIVE. Pro-tip for life: Get some understanding of fashion and style. Also work out so clothes look good on you.
Raf Simons, Rick Owens, usually what I'm dressed in
• Cargo shorts and dumb looking graphics tees up until I was about 14 then I started trying to wear better clothes. Now I mostly wear solid color t shirt (until I can find some sick band tees that look good), Vans Eras, Skinny Levis 511's and some button downs. Still building my wardrobe doe

      • I used to wear those tropic button up shirts, then I started going to the thrift shop and got a lot of vintage stuff, now I just don't care. I'll probably wear some sort of t-shirt with jeans or shorts, and bum the rest of it. All that matters is that my face, hair teeth and body are clean, and that I smell good.
