"What's on the Menu, Fritz?"

Yes, a menu would allow ease of accessibility

No, a menu would destroy immersion

So I tried using the search bar to find a topic about the start menu and found nothing, so I'm starting this discussion: There has been talk that Destiny will have no start menu and merely place you into the game space. I have to say I have only seen this done once and that was Ultima IX (I know... "What's a Paladin?"). Now, I don't mind it being used then because you played as one character, even if you made a different starting "class" choice on Earth. However, in this game, there are too many factors involved that would make not having a start menu a real pain. If we have multiple characters, it would be nice to switch characters before we actually jump into the game. There is also the multiplayer aspects. I know it is not set in stone, but in theory it would be a pain to have to traverse around to find the PvP arenas/zones/PoI, so having a menu option to just jump to the place, or begin matchmaking, would take away from the potential boredom of in-game travel. It might take away from the immersion, but I think "immersion" should be used to strengthen main, sub, and side story elements, and possibly add to social interaction in the main portion of the game, and not be used to describe the entirety of the game (after all, it is just a game, not a second life). TL;DR - Do you think a menu should be made at the start to ease the access of the different parts of the game, or force you to walk/ride/etc. to your destination in order to make changes?
