I'm still dumbfounded as to how the Benghazi incident didn't lose the election for him. If we didn't have shitty Republican candidates it would have been a cakewalk.

  • Diplomatic attacks were common under Bush too, you know.

The fact that it occurred is not really the issue. The details showing the possibility that requests for security were ignored, even with prior knowledge of a growing possibility of an attack of some sort, the lies told for weeks after the incident, the blatant attempt to suppress the story by the media during a critical part of the election (this was 5 days after President Obama bragged about how crippled the terrorists were thanks to his efforts), and the continuing effort to delay any public investigation are the issues. It is not reassuring for the administration to label those that want the truth on public record as fear-mongers, and it is not okay for the administration to blatantly lie to the country and then have the Secretary of State go on record claiming the lies don't even matter.

That's why Bush isn't in the Hague charged with war crimes, or why intelligence agencies aren't accountable for their claims in the Iraq War. I don't see 4 Americans dying as worthy for the loss of the presidency. The details around the incident are murky, I admit, but people need to accept the fact that the administration made a mistake. As for the fear mongering part, it is true. Even if you take all the things to heart, this incident has been blown way out of proportion. The fact that it still has headlines is incredible, it stayed in the news for weeks while the Boston bombing reverted back to normality (with the occasional mention) a few days after the guys were caught. This is one diplomatic attack overseas vs a terrorist attack on US soil in one of the most highly publicized events of the month. I can see the problem in Benghazi, but it seems to be more desperation out of the GOP more than anything else. The economy is actually starting to improve, they are running out of political points. Even the budget deficit is set to decrease this year.
You
Excuse me, I apologize for making this unclear, but you seem to have me confused with the Republican party. When I used the word 'we', I used it in a much larger sense in reference to the country.
