• Fellowship of the Ring has always been my favourite of the LOTR films. My favourite scene would have to be either the one following Gandalf's fall where they escape the Bridge of Khazad-Dum with Howard Shore's divine music driving the scene, or Boromir's death at Amon Hen. Favourite quote is easy, Gandalf's speech with Pippin about death in Return of the King. Sir Ian absolutely dazzled me with this speech.
"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take... The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it... White shores and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise."
Though the Two Towers lacked the quality of the other two, it has probably the best scene of them all, and in my personal opinion... Probably one of the best scenes in the history of Cinema. That speech, it just hits me where right in the heart, gives me hope for the future. Truly words to live by.

          • I once would've said unhesitatingly that ROTK was the best film, but now, having watched them a few more times, I'd go with TT. For my scene from the films, I'd probably go with either: 1. Theoden's pump-up speech and the Rohirrim's charge. I have never seen anything in film that reliably gives me chills like that. 2. "You shall not pass." Heck, pretty much the entire Moria sequence was just unbelievable scene to unbelievable scene, and to have this top it off was mind-blowing. I decline to pick a quote. Too many brilliant ones in the books and too many impeccably delivered ones in the films.

            • The Two Towers is probably my favourite, just because I love the whole Rohan focus. One of my favourite scenes is the bit where Éowyn kills the Witch King. "No man can defeat me!" "I am no man!" *Stab*

They are all in my top favorite movies of all time but Gandalf describing death to Pippin in "Return of the King" is incredibly touching and just makes you feel good. It wasnt in the book though, I dont think i will have to go look but I dont remember it...

            • Fellowship's my favourite, the other two drag on a bit too much for my tastes. "Nobody tosses a dwarf" is the best quote and the bit where Gandalf is battling with the Balrog in Two Towers is the best scene.
