To put it simply, I have serious doubts that current-gen consoles can handle the scope of what is promised, while at the same time keeping a great polish and smooth gameplay. Multi-planetary open-world exploration, multiple species of enemies that all act differently based on Bungie's stunning AI, and all the while it's multiplayer? I cannot see this working currently without lag or just brutal slowness and FPS drops.
I'm sound so pessimistic, I know. Somewhere in my heart I know Bungie's got it. But look at Reach, remember the first level? When the rain comes down and everything is moving around, it just looked choppy and performed slowly. Same case for Firefight most of the time.
Point is, I would most definitely wait for the next wave of updated, high performance consoles to get an infinitely better game. Not to mention that Destiny would be the perfect game to drop with a new console.
-
Wii U has already started the next generation of consoles, and I would be ecstatic if Destiny was announced for Nintendo's sexy new system. If not, I can live with playing Destiny on Xbox 360. Much like Halo 4, however, I'd be looking solemnly at my Wii U Gamepad and dreaming of the possibilities.
-
I would wait, but I would rather it just release for the current gen and then have the next game/ expansion be on next gen.
-
I come from a generation where 8 bit graphics were amazing. I care about gameplay over graphics. Look at the cry engine 3 and tell me the 360 cant look amazing. Not waiting for next gen and wont buy untill I need to if Destiny 2 is only on it. (assuming its epic)
-
Totally, if the game comes out after the new consoles. I'm already saving for the next-gen.
-
I need to know more before I can actually answer that, but waiting is definitely not out of the question for me.
-
Nope I would wait for no knew consoles, next gens already here. http://www.geforce.com/
-
I'd wait for the next gen consoles without a doubt.
-
Sadly, yes. I'm going to wait to have the next gen version.
-
Unfortunately my resolve is not that strong.
-
No. I think Xbox 360 still has a lot of years left. My plan is to get Destiny 1 on 360, then the Destiny 2 Xbox 720 bundle two years after.
-
I would say yes, but I'm a bastard who will probably double-dip.
-
Gamers who think they know game development always make me laugh.
-
If the next-gen is backwards compatible, then I'll more then likely buy it on the current-gen.
-
I'm fairly certain Destiny is going to launch on both generations considering how close we are to the new console announcements. So ya, I'll buy it for the next gen because I plan to buy one at launch.
-
With the possibility that destiny may not be out till 2014, you may not have to wait, next-gen consoles may already be out on Destiny release. Nothing looks to be finalized.
-
Thats what I'm waiting to see if it's gonna launch with the next Xbox.
-
I will be getting it on current gen as I have no intention of getting a new system this year at all or early next year under circumstances. Not until I know exactly what the system can do, and if it does not have backwards compatibility, I will probably not get it until a load of good games come out for it.

Edited by What Up Essay: 2/17/2013 11:52:55 PMI'm waiting till they fix the first issues that are always there with new consoles. But I also wanna play Destiny - so I'm playing it on PS3 first.■
-
If current gen is released before next gen, then I'll get it on current gen (and next depending on much I like it) If they're released together, then I'll be purchasing it as a "next gen" title.
-
No, I'll be getting it for current gen. I'm holding out for a while on next gen. Red Ring of Death will not get me.... 2 times.... like this time around. I'll wait until all the kinks are worked out. And its 1 price point cheaper.
-
Edited by Prototape: 2/17/2013 11:45:20 PMI'm not worried about it at all. I'll still play it on my 360. They are a game developer, if they don't know how to prioritize system memory/power, I don't know who can.
-
I cant wait to see how long load times will be. I could perfectly wait another full year for Destiny to release if it were to come out on the next gen. Bungie would have more time to develop and polish the game with even better tech at their disposal. And give a good reason to get a next gen console. It would be nothing but good for Destiny.
-
I would get it for the current-gen and if I like it I'll get it for the next-gen.
