My Fan Fiction for The Flood library

Chapter 1: Hunting I took the battle rifle off the rack. My mom said “ Be careful Douglas, make sure you bring ammunition, and this time, don’t come back with a sprained ankle. ”I said “ Sure, Mom. ”, with a tone of annoyance in my voice. The last time I went hunting a bear stepped on my foot, I sprained my ankle, and killed it in self defense. Surprisingly enough I was only 6, and could kill a squirrel 20 feet away with my battle rifle. While I was hunting, I was just about to make a kill, but a lady with glasses came up next to me, and asked “ What are you doing? ”. I then took my shot, feeling the kick of the shot, even though for adults, it would be nothing and killed a rabbit. I replied “ Well, even though I’m five, if I’m carrying a battle rifle, and just killed some game, what do you think? She said “ Hunting, even though children the age of five aren’t aloud. But I won’t tell if you’ll play a game with me. I raised my battle rifle and said “ And if I don’t, what expense will it be to me, my parents would go to jail for letting me hunt, not me. ” She replied, apparently very annoyed “ Then you may miss the chance of a life time. All I want you to do is catch this coin. If you get it with the eagle side up, you get to keep it. But, if you get it with the head’s side up, I get to keep it, and your parents’ license for a battle rifle will be taken away. I saw part of a tree bend, but it had been straight only a moment ago. I fired at the tree, and it went back to normal, so, the lady looking at what I just fired at, said “ What the hell was that for? ” I replied saying “ My eyes must have been playing tricks on me, sorry, so, can we play that game now? " Chapter 2: The Anitelles Pelican Two days later, after Ghost and I were in the woods he said “Yesterday, some lady just like the one you said had asked you what you were doing when you were hunting, asked me the same thing after I shot an earth-pigeon out of the air.” ‘She gave me a coin just like yours!” The reason why we called Ghost “Ghost” was because he had a really good gift at being able to sneak around where and when he wanted to, and not be heard, not even by my dog! We were always competing to see who was better. The only reason why he wasn’t better than me was because I could be much stronger, faster, and smarter when I was mad. My Mom always said I had been near some sort of compound that was used for Spartan III’s, but it had no effect. But I always knew she was wrong. I would have been winning, but because ghost got that same coin too, we were tied for the millionth time! We were climbing some trees, when we heard a pelican. Of course, seeing as we were only 6, we had no idea what it was. We saw it landing. Suddenly Ghost said “I’ve seen those before! My brother, you know, the one with the hidden weapons locker incase the covenant come, and he flies those! But, the ones he flies has MARINES written on the landing legs, not Anitelles. And I think it had a turret near where you got off." 2 men got off. Most likely those people who bought hat mansion, if you were that rich you would have body guards, and they were probably them. Then a Father in a black suit and a wife in a very good looking dress stepped off. Then a, at least it looked like, a 7 year old boy, apparently not liking his clothes or the way his hair was, and a six year-old girl got off. I may be six but I think I’m in love. She had dirty blonde hair and green eyes, and had such a proud stride, I almost fell out of my tree. What the hell was I thinking? If I was going to be a marine some day, I couldn’t let emotions get in my way. Chapter 3:Attack That same day, around 5:30, ghost and I were still playing. We had just eaten dinner. Even though meat-loaf was over 500 years old, civilians still knew how to make it, and I was happy that they did. “Ugh, leftovers again!” said Ghost as suddenly as he appeared, quite silently behind me. Him doing that used to scare me, but now I was used to it, so it didn’t. “Really, that’s the 5th time!; “your mom could feed half the UNSC!” I said sarcastically. “Yeah, sure, if Markus was here, we might have something different, not the same thing every day, it’s really annoying.” Ghost Replied. Naturally, we were out bird watching, and trying to find nests, to see how well the birds we populating, deciding how many of what to get rid of, and finding nests to tag mothers or fathers, so we could kill the ones without children. We did this by tagging them with small tracers we could shoot out of my battle rifle, and they didn’t hurt the birds. In Markus’s weapon locker, we found really big boxes of these, and a screen, so we would know when to shoot. I was watching a pigeon, to see where it would go, but I saw something else. It was a purple object moving quite fast, so I changed my magnification to see it better. I told ghost what setting, pointed where it was, and watched it; it was unlike anything we had seen before. It had three moving, well, all I could describe them was as things, something blue near the middle of the bottom, and 2 weird “wing-things” near the back that were steering it. Luckily we were in the tree just above Markus’s weapons locker ;I had needed ammo for my battle rifle. Ghost must have realized this too, and said “My brother left me this hand-book, made just 3 months ago, and it explains all the things the aliens that he fights have, so maybe we could find that in there! It might be some sort of invasion, or they could come here for something, and then make the world be made out of glass, like my brother said! We climbed down the tree half-way and reached into an abandoned owl nest. Ghost pulled out a small, toy-like shovel. When we were at the bottom, I spotted the UNSC symbol etched on the tree. Ghost held the handle and I held the metal part. We both pulled, and the shovel extended. We made it only about 3/4ths the size of our bodies, seeing as it was adult size, and we were 6.We dug 3 feet into the ground before finding some titanium-C doors. We pulled it open, and it was like usual. A spare helmet and armor on a table 1 box and 3/4ths of tracers, 2 hooks where the scanner would be, and a wooden box. We opened it, carefully took out a picture of a beautiful girl in her 20’s, a leather pouch with something jingling inside, some old metal with the name Jerrod Riffle on it, whoever the hell he was, and finally, the book Ghost explained. Chapter 4: Attack of the Spartans I was walking down the hall, towards the docking bay on all fours. My name was impala, and I was a major grunt. I had a needler in my right hand and 2 grenades in my satchel. Over the ships communications, the zealot’s voice rang deep: “The mission is being post-poned, there is strange activity near the grav-lift, and we are sending special operations grunts.” That was strange, they would normally sacrifice us, no matter what it was, as long as it wasn’t too important. As suddenly as the message ended, the door opened in front of me, but I wasn’t in range of the sensors yet. But…the god’s creations never malfunctioned, unless… . I started backing away, but the door would not close. Suddenly a big, green, human jumped out. Luckily I had backed through the door when it fired, otherwise I’d be going on with the great journey by now. I started running, screaming “Demon! Demon!!! Lock the doors, lock the doors!” As I reached the bridge, the demon was almost behind me, but because I kept zigzagging, his shots never hit me. When the Zealot heard my cries, he immediately shut the doors. Luckily, I was in the control room before he did. The zealot called for reinforcements. 5 units later, 8 jackals came racing through the 2 main doors, followed by 2 gunner grunts. The grunts set up there turrets, near the 2 doors. Then four jackals, 2 on either side of each gunner grunt, crouched, waiting. Over the communications a Major Domo elites rang. “This is Eupa ‘Kazudee, there is a demon, and he’s in-“there was a pained roar, then silence. The door opposite from the one I had ran through blinked twice, then locked. On the door I had ran through, dent after dent started appearing. If this was the end, fighting to lead the humans away from the captured human children, so be it. [Edited on 11.17.2007 6:53 AM PST]
