Legacy of the Warlord

[Chapter One] Since time immortal many have striven to rise above to become pillars of a race. Sangheili have for generations rose to meet the challenges of the day. Some have come far from the rank and file of ordinary beings to become something truly great. This can be true. Yet this is not the norm. Each face great events that shaped them in some way. Leaders always need those who are willing yet, can control them in some way. Even the greatest of Hero's must face this one of many truth's. Powers that be have many ways of ending such a being if they see fit. Covenant have many mechanisms in place to keep those in line. Adherence to a Religion based on a dead race of advanced beings. Punishment for those who disobey. Those who turn away from this are Heretics. Forever banished or exiled from that races home world. Nomads to wander space. Yet hidden in between the political zealots religion are those who serve. They serve to collect information. Some serve as Eliminators who dispatch rivals or sabotage enemy's plans. I serve in this shadow area. Unlike others i did not serve the Prophets. Whom i served was important. Yet some whisper about me. About who i served. I say let them whisper. His legacy will carry beyond the Ninth Age of Reclamation. [Edited on 09.30.2012 5:00 PM PDT]

  • [[i]Divine Fire[/i], Orbiting Atlantis] Klones made his way to the hanger bay. Before entering he checked over his energy rifle at his side. Then he checked the armor's shield levels also. It was quiet in the hanger as he waited near the spirit that would carry him down to the planet surface. Spending a season on board let him get used to ship life. He practiced regularly on his lessons learned in training. Even honing his weapon skills on board. Drelos was dressed for combat with Kapoom behind him. The other three Unggoy fallowed behind to fill out the scout squad. Drelos waved a hello." Hi big guy" Klones stood tall in his minor armor proud to serve with the experienced little warrior." We with other scout units are to look for humans below." Each little warrior had a combat environmental suit. Wearing masks that let them breathe methane. Each had plasma pistols with plasma grenades to round out there offensive armament. Words cannot describe the Unggoy personality. They are at times child like. Yet can be fierce combatants. There race is not lacking of personality. It does lighten the mood some how. Finally the Spirit was ready for them. This one was pretty old with constant use. It had quite a few dents on its hull. Not to mention places that showed signs of fading. Drop Ship doors opened to let every one board it. Klones sat into the harness that had small fields to hold you in yet when you wished to exit all you needed to do was hit the release sensor. Klones let the fields take effect holding him in place. Hatches closed. Docking clamps were released as he could feel the vessel float on its own power. He could not see much leaning in the darkness except a small green strip of light coming down to dimly illuminate his harness. He felt acceleration now the Drop Ship pick up speed as it left the main hanger bay. Alone with his thoughts he kept seeing that face of the one who fell into the lake. His thoughts were interrupted when a strong assertive voice spoke to him over his com link." Scout Squad, This is Squad Leader. It is tradition for you being the least experienced to head down first." " Orders are to Scout the area for enemy communications, Any place humans live. Keep on the look out for human military. " " Keep out of sight when you land. We are dropping you on a rather large jungle island. Also do not forget to use Active Cloaking. Report anything that looks strange even for humans." His Com went silent as he said" Yes sir". Soon after he could feel them hit the atmosphere. It was a bumpy ride down as turbulence hit the drop ship. A moment of calm once they re-entered the atmosphere. His drop ship bucked like a wild animal when strong wind's hit his side of the ship. Threatening the generators who were working on keeping the craft stable at the hands of its pilot. Drop Bay doors opened. He got a face full of rain. It was hard to see outside with a tropical storm hitting the area. As the Drop Ship floated down so they could free fall a few feet to the ground. Rain pelted every part of his body. Wind making it difficult to see let alone get out of his harness. This would take timing. As the strip above his head lit up red he hit the release switch. Timing it right between gusts. Klones jumped out yet he landed on his quadruped feet. Ground being slippery he fell right into some wet muck. Spirits pilot had at least kept them from jumping off from the only clear area. Unable to see his Drop Ship it was able to rise into the sky. Klones stood up all muddy yet he had to rescue the Unggoy who fell out instead of landing properly. One nearly drowned landing in a huge mud hole. Helping each of them get unstuck was humorous but he wanted to get out of the rain soaked clearing. Kapoom lead every one to the jungle interior. Klones made sure every one did a weapons check. Each Unggoy muttered about rain as they went farther into the jungle. [Edited on 10.13.2012 10:27 AM PDT]
