About the two World Wars?
I mean I've heard that England does a brief glance at the revolutionary war so what does Germany teach about the two World Wars?

After all, the newer generations weren't alive for it and can more easily accept the fact their nation has a rough history (which nation doesn't?) I would find it awkward to be a German these days. Or perhaps a German youth who has to learn via the internet that his nation was responsible for the only two World Wars to date. The Russians don't shy away from their history or genocides and nor should the Germans. Interestingly enough, the brutal history of Russia is actually infused with the identity of being a Russian in the first place which is the polar opposite of what Germany seems to be doing by not teaching their youth about World War II.[/quote] As I understand it, the German government has made it mandatory in most schools to learn (if not briefly) about both wars. Something about not wanting to have it happen again. Most Germans are embarrassed to hold their own flag nowadays. [Edited on 12.06.2012 5:15 PM PST]
