When people go to space, where do they get the air?

On the international space station for example. People are up there for a long long time, where does all the air come from? It's not like they do air deliveries every so often, so how do they keep breathing? Surely there isn't enough space on the space station to store enough air to last them for months.

  • I would guess some sort of air recycling contraption. Turn the carbon dioxide into oxygen. Maybe they have plants up there?

  • there's a really long tube that connects the ISS to the Earth, that's how they get their air and when it's time to go home just strap on a parachute and down the tube they go !
