Career Opportunities Forcast

What does the Bungie's career opportunity forcast look like? Now that the holiday break is over, do you think it is a good time to send in that resume to Bungie?

 • I wish you good luck Ingot, I think the fact that someone from Pixar skipped over to Bungie is a good sign ;) (can't remember the breaking in article that was mentioned in, sorry)

 •
Posted by: theslatcher
Posted by: DarkBen64 Not from my experience. We have a family friend who works at Playground Games and it's seriously just more indepth asset creation with a deeper codebase that any dedicated indie could make just as much use of (though he probably wouldn't need to)
And I know teachers from Ubisoft Massive( One worked on WiC and GC as Software -something-(he can't remember, but his name is in the top 5 names in the credits) and the other worked on Far Cry 3 ), then students who're working/interns at studios such as DICE, Ubisoft Montreal, Rare, Ubisoft Bulgaria, Starbreeze, Tarsier, SouthEnd, etc(among with indie devs that I cannot remember). and some created their own indie studio. There's a huge difference from what they've started learning depending on the studio, but the biggest difference is between the indie and AAA interns/workers. But that's just programmers, no idea about artists, but level designers got better tools at their disposal at an AAA studio.
Hence fancier equipment, etc. At the heart of it all is fancier equipment, a deeper codebase and lots more assets with high quality. Made by lots more people. Granted there's a bit more to it but nothing that the everyday employee is going to encounter, especially an entry level one.

It might look fun but the pay really isn't that great in AAA and half of the IT work is outsourced for cheap to India. AFAIAC pay is just a bonus, to get an inside look at the process of creating a AAA title, priceless..
You want it honestly? It's exactly the same as a smaller game, just with more people creating fancier graphics with fancier equipment. That's literally it.
Err, my teachers and past students of my school say no to that statement. That's not "literally it". If you go indie, you'll be more involved in the game you're working on. If you go AAA you'll get to see the codebase, learn how to adapt, etc. There's more, and saying "It's exactly the same as a smaller game, just with more people creating fancier graphics with fancier equipment. Looking at a general job in the AAA industry, no thanks. Bungie, I'd consider.

And Bungie seems to be different in that fact. There seems to be a majestic aspect to Bungie. I am not sure from whom or what this magic eminates from, but I must know the source!
