Do you think the Arbiter will be in any of the future Halo games?

We haven't seen the arbiter since Halo 3. Do you guys think he'll come back in Halo 5 or 6 to fight the UNSC?

They are still aliens and do not fit into any of the Earth classifications for life as they currently exist. Therefore, to expect that all of the features of a Saurian creature should appear on them is unreasonable. I see no reason to belittle Bungie's aesthetic choices in this regard. I think that the only important considerations in designing your alien races is what their purpose is in the story and how you want them to be perceived by in-universe characters and by the audience. I'm not sure realism should be a consideration, or even can be a consideration. Merely reason. In most cases, the audience's ability to relate decreases as you push the designs more towards the Eldritch Abomination end of the spectrum (Unless you happen to be a literary genius), so there are compromises that have to be made in places. This works well for things like the Alien films; doesn't work so well when you want those alien races to sympathetic and relatable to some degree.
meant to say sauron mistake on my part. But That is anther point in how the elites look too human to start with and it's like any attempts to make them or other races more alien "isn't halo". The Hunters are the most alien of all and i don't like how they were given two eyes as they originally had that white slit or visor. I think in reach they had like 6 eyes which i liked; but then again i am not some bungie zealot and i understand that not all hunters are the same. I can understand that as well. It is said we can only empathize with things that look like us (which i don't believe). So it would be better in terms of story if the aliens actually did look alien yet you still ended up have a profound sense of understanding towards them. That is what i think true story telling would be. AJW i can't say anything other than i would clap for an hour if i could. [Edited on 01.02.2013 11:53 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: grey101 Yeah, Lets have an entire game without cortana and the chief try to interact with johnson, Thel, or anybody else. Let's then end the game right after we get cortana.
This is part of the reason why I always thought Halo 4 would be a good idea, since Halo 3 brought absolutely no closure especially for a major character like Cortana. The whole of Halo 3 builds up to rescuing her, but half an hour later we're supposed to just be totally fine with letting her rot inside a derelict ship and pretend she got the conclusion she deserved? Hell no. There is much that can be said about Halo 4 on the front of character writing, and what stands out most is John and Cortana's relationship. It developed beautifully, to the point where I feel okay with her actually dying now because they made it feel like the relationship has run its course and come to an end with a sense of finality. She has had a profound effect on John to say at the least, and it's because of Cortana (not any other character in the games, her) that John developed at all. While I do feel the Chief/Cortana story came to a natural end in Halo 4, I still think that John's story needs her in order to avoid making the mistakes Halo 3 did - diminishing the role of Thel and leaving blanket characters like Johnson and Miranda to fill the gap, despite the fact that neither of them are actually developed in the games. Johnson's development was essentially restricted to Contact Harvest, yet he's a fan-favourite character. Why? Because he's an archetype. Yet when a character like the Didact is steadily developed over 5 years, people complain about him being somewhat ambiguous in the game because they don't want to think for themselves and have a simplistic plot spoon-fed to them. I understand that it can be frustrating that certain details in Halo 4 were not covered very well and pouring over 5 years of fiction seems somewhat daunting, but why should a mountain of exposition be artificially injected into the game when the details are at everyone's fingertips? /tangent [Edited on 01.02.2013 11:59 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: grey101 They are sauropods and the portrayal of them is far more realistic than the man lizards bungie had them out to be.
I'm not sure about realistic. When dealing with the aesthetic portrayal of fictional alien races, there is no such concept as realism. For something to be realistic, it has to be somewhat accurately reflected in reality. As we have no alien races to compare to, and no standard to say what a realistic alien actually looks like, this remains purely an imaginative exercise with absolutely no basis in fact. Even if we had knowledge of real aliens, it is still much too general an area to set up what is realistic and what is not. Anything from another Human race to a puddle of sentient slime could show up. In other words, almost anything could be possible within reason. The Elites were Saurian-like, but they were not Saurians. They are still aliens and do not fit into any of the Earth classifications for life as they currently exist. Therefore, to expect that all of the features of a Saurian creature should appear on them is unreasonable. I see no reason to belittle Bungie's aesthetic choices in this regard. What?
I think he's talking about the new (ugly, imo) look that 343i has decided to give every single Elite in Halo...or possibly the messing up of characters that 343i has done, or heck, maybe even both. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.
They are sauropods and the portrayal of them is far more realistic than the man lizards bungie had them out to be. Coma check the elite thread on waypoint and the schism thread here where i have ranted in response to your blasphemous statements. I love how you only complain about the elites and you never talk about anything else. It's as if you only care about what is going on with the elites and have utterly no regard for anything else going on in the universe despite how much you claim to love. Messing up of what characters or by that do you mean actually making them characters to start with? Lasky- Fuc**** brillant Cortana and chief- About damn time The didact- Amazing Del Rio- Awesome Jul- Extremely well portrayed Tillson- Great for not treating chief any different than any other human I could go on. 343I is doing excellent in terms of actual character development. What bungie did wasn't charactar development but the characters reacting to what was going around them even then that was best in halo 2 like everything else in regards to bungie's haloverse. "Bungie's halo, repeat 3 dozen times" Yeah, Lets have an entire game without cortana and the chief try to interact with johnson, Thel, or anybody else. Let's then end the game right after we get cortana. Yeah, that was an awesome halo game coma. [Edited on 01.02.2013 9:58 AM PST]

Unless things have changed since the Thursday War most of the elites are still allied with humanity with the Arbiter as their leader. The elites we fight in Halo 4 are a rebel faction that want to continue fighting the humans and overthrow the Arbiter.
Well, I learned something today. I figured for some reason that humanity was fighting against the entire covenant again.

 • This makes me want to mess with a "The Dark Knight Rises" quote. The Master Chief: "We were in this together. And then, you were gone. And now this evil... rises. The 'Arbiter' must come back." The Arbiter: "What if he doesn't exist anymore?" The Master Chief: "He must." Its official, he's got to be in Halo 5 or 6. Master Chief said so.

 • i hope in 5 you get to play as cortana stealing didacts suit searching for the arbiter and cheif and maybe be able to control the hunter or for humorous effect a grunt ment to die and then play as chief and arbiter and get this a promethean knight who was a project experiment infused with flood dna plus the humans need to kill like 3 or 4 more rings so umm lol and i miss the flood ps i iz angry about forerunners being evil ps. didact armor looks sweet ps the should allow you to play as multiple halo species with different limitations like grunts can only use ghosts an sing handed weapons and to make up for shielding the suicide ability and the ...brute beserker... jackal carbine super jump and single wield... hunter slow run shield slows weapon turn weapon requires alot of charge... drone flight wall stick only for 10 secs...marine sprint odst shield smg special... flood slow movement infect dead... forerunner version 1 suit (no force powers promethean summon but 1 at time random type ... promethean protector.. protector... engineer overshield... prophet limited flight boarded possible kill...all sparton mk.'s animal promethean wall climb unlimited ammo but only in a burst or need reload... v skirmesher super sprint and so on may not be good but it would be fun am i right i mean it would be cool or you can be an ai controlling auto turrets or you coud "ride spartan/ elite" and boost shield or decrease armor ability cooldown so who agrees with me or at least have it for firefight

Has anyone noticed the lack of Huragok in Halo 4? Something must happen to them in the third book. A lot is going to happen. And for all we know...... Thel could be dead. But let us see.
Them not being shown on infinity is fine because it is a huge ship and we hardly saw the engine room. But to not see a single one on requiem? extremely odd.

 • I don't want to play as Thel, his character development is done and was done well. I'm all for him making cameos and fighting alongside John every now and then, but I don't want him to share John's spotlight just as he's starting to discover his own humanity for the first time. Hard to predict how Halo 5 will go, what with Spartan Ops and all.

 • I'm waiting for the following to be at his disposal: clones, teleporting, resurrection, sword flying, perma camo, overshield, dual wielding swords, Scarab gun, Elite shield gauntlet, force powers But in all seriousness, yes I want to play as him again. Just as long as they make him feel different than Chief. Halo 2 can be excused but if Halo 5 or 6 makes him a carbon copy of Chief, I will be immensely displeased. Reach made the Elites feel different from Spartans. I can't imagine how 343 could possibly -blam!- up. [Edited on 12.30.2012 3:35 PM PST]

Ahaha
nope, what we fight is a sangheili militant organization called the Storm, led by Jul'Mdama, an elite with a strong personal vendetta against humanity. He is agnostic, but pretends to be an almost messianic figure to keep control of his forces, which mostly consist of religious zealots that oppose the Arbiter's rejection of the covenant faith. Jul learned from a Huragok on Onyx (he was being held captive by ONI at the time) of the Didact's existence and of his hatred of humanity. He hoped to awaken the Didact and enlist his aid in destroying humanity and securing forerunner weapons to ensure sangheili dominance in the galaxy.

 • I'm really hoping that Halo 5 will have a dual-campaign like Halo 2, only inverted with John having the more personal story as he searches for Cortana, and Thel takes centre-stage as he discovers the Precursor threat and moves to unite the galaxy against their return.
