Do you agree?
I even think that Halo 4's music is the best halo soundtrack simply because its better to listen to. Marty rehashes older tracks (Halo 2 - 3 main menu theme) and the Mjolnir theme is used in all 3 games.
Also good themes that look 8 minutes long is normal 2-3 minutes awesome the rest is rubbish but you need to listen to them to get to the good parts.

Nothing can beat the MJOLNIR mix. NOTHING. But Halo 4 OST is pretty awesome.

While I enjoyed the soundtrack, only "Arrival" was memorable. I wish they'd used the original theme at least once for nostalgia's sake, perhaps in the credits? We don't know what lies ahead, they could recycle themes from Halo 4 in 5 and 6. [Edited on 12.29.2012 7:06 AM PST]
Posted by: Android Spartan
Posted by: SilentA98 Actually, Halo 4's theme I find alright. I'm biased to say the original theme, however, as it has nostalgic value that no new tune will be able to beat. This song > Everything
Funny its considered Halo CE but that song was in Myth and Halo 3 and Reach.
Yup, I knew it was originally in myth. It's also in Halo 2. If you turn up the sound on your TV (or use Teartle Beach headphones) and go to the iron door at the back of the lift on Ivory Tower, you can faintly hear Seige of Madrigal play in the background. It was also in ODST. I'm a bit saddened it wasn't in Halo 4, but then again they'd have had to pay a lot of money to get it into Halo 4.
Posted by: ajw34307
Posted by: DarkBen64 I agree with you, OP. I like Marty but I don't revere him like the Flood seems to.
I think the way he's idolised is just... wrong. He's s phenomenal composer who has created some truly iconic and amazing tracks, but so many of them are just remakes of old ones and the only time he branched out into a broad array of themes was Halo 2 - though I do believe that ODST's soundtrack is up there with Journey and Shadow of the Colossus. Notice how people don't attack composers like Steven Rippy (Halo Wars) because he stuck so tight to remaking a lot of tracks, and how it's ONLY acceptable to deviate from what many brain dead fools define as the 'Halo sound' if it's Marty. It's a very nice show of double standards when people will declare ODST and Reach to be 'Halo music', despite being completely different in atmosphere, sound and tone to Halo CE-3, yet when Halo 4 is also being atmospherically and thematically different it's 'not Halo'.
I'm a fan of Marty's work. Just that the Mjolnr mix is not my thing. Much prefer the rest of the Halo 2 OST.

Some guy on YouTube (can't link I'm on mobile) made a track called "We are the desperate measures". It's basically just a compilation of this one soundtrack that reoccurs in small pieces throughout several levels in ODST. He put them all together and it sounds great, give it a try.

Not a fan of the Mjolnr mix. Feels like it butchered the original Halo theme.

Agreed, I'm not that keen on MJOLNIR mix, To Galaxy is amazing but it was massively overused in 343's pre-release previews which put me off it a little. Legacy, 117, Green & Blue, Belly of the Beast, Revival, Nemesis, Solace, and Requiem were easily some of the best tracks in the series - Legacy is the first one to topple In Amber Clad and Under Cover of Darkness as my favourite.
Posted by: Lazy bazooka No. Neil is good but nowhere near as good as Marty.
Gravemind and Brutes are not exactly great and niether is most of his stuff. Music from CE is found in Halo 3, the memorable music is only rehashed stuff and it doesn't make a person great for copy n pasting. Also Winter Contingency is around 10 minutes long and only about half of it is any good, the ODST theme is the same. I listen to 90% of Halo 4's OST compared to 20% of any of Mart's stuff.

Why I oughta...

It's a shame the chorous wasn't used in the game at all.

No. Neil is good but nowhere near as good as Marty.

No, the only thing To Galaxy reminds me of now is lag. It's still a good soundtrack but it's been ruined for me by War Games.
-
Nope.
