The Didact's Lieutenants

I've wondered on the possibility of Didact having lieutenants on Requiem, controlling the Promethean Forces. While I personally believe the Didact survived his encounter with John (He fell into a slipspace portal below the Composer and he is immune to its effects, not to mention a single Pulse Grenade wouldn't have killed him), some here believe the Didact didn't survive. So who commands the Prometheans? 343 explained that the Knights retain their personality from their organic lives and its possible that the Didact would have specific Knights to lead Promethean Forces while he was busy. So, what's the chance of encountering such a Knight in Spartan Ops? I think it would be cool to see the more individual knights having their own colors.

 • The Prometheans aren't the only branch of the Forerunner Military. The Warrior-Servants like the Didact are the Forerunner equivalents to Spartans. There is also Builder Security; more like a Forerunner equivalent to Militia, Marines and regular Special Forces. While the Didact obviously would compose into Knights his own Prometheans, who follow him with absolute unquestioning loyalty, the Security forces of the various Forerunner castes would probably reject the Didact's plan straight away, seeing as they are not dedicated warriors unlike the Prometheans. Still, they are under the command of the Didact; Supreme Command of the Forerunner Military, and would possibly have commanders who would support both the Didact's anti-human bias as well as his preservation effort of the Forerunner species as opposed to the Liberian's plan to sacrifice their entire species to pass the torch. Possibly, with Shield Worlds, there could be Caste Security forces in the galaxy, and the Didact could demand their aide in his current campaign.

Also, I think it'd have been neat if the Didact had a puppet based on his image.
Battlewagons don't really live up to their reputation. "Only deployed when all else fails" does NOT fit the Battlewagons because they show up in every Knight Fight there is. Commanders are rarer and they're definitely more dangerous thanks to their Incineration Cannons. But they're more like sergeants more than anything else. They lead troops on the battlefield, yes, but I severely doubt there isn't someone commanding them. You can't run an army on corporals and sergeants, bro.
So true. Also, I remember 343 saying something about the Prometheans having a 'general of sorts'. This implied someone other than the Didact IMO.
A good analogy I think would be the Mass Effect Collectors and Harbinger (Fun Fact: The Didact's Voice Actor also did Harbinger). Harbinger was their leader yes but he controlled them through the Collector General; the General was still a Collector despite his commanding status.
I haven't played that game but that's nice to know. This is the worst case scenario in Spartan Ops IMO: The Promethean leader ends up being a regular Knight in behavior *shudders* If they do introduce a General, it should be like in a Legend of Zelda mini-boss setting. I just found those so engaging! [Edited on 12.30.2012 2:33 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: GhostLink2401 He was imprisoned in Requiem. Why would the Librarian give him backup? As far as we know, his troops never supported his plan to Compose humanity. It's likely that his forces stopped fighting for him when they found out he was trying to replace them.
His Prometheans were already composed at the time from what I understand. Composing also left the person's intellect intact, so you can see why I think they're Command Prometheans.

 • His troops let themselves be composed. Also I agree that any we have seen are low field commanders. The librarian basically reprogrammed them to protect the didact and keep him from being freed so the high ranking ones would have been online.
