Why is my monitor randomly turning off?

I recently got a hand me down graphics card and power supply, and ever since then my monitor would go black, say "no signal" and never come back on until I manually turn off the computer. Sometimes this will occur after 30 minutes after I boot up, sometimes 3 hours, sometimes never. Any help with this would be much appreciated [Edited on 12.08.2012 2:13 PM PST]

  • Most likely a bad cable connection. I ended up having to replace mine last year when it started doing that more and more frequently.
