Well lately I have been learning how to code, I thought some other people might want to learn to. So here are some links to good coding websites. •
Posted by: Parson Staffer
Posted by: timothy pumpkin I learnt all that I know from http://thenewboston.org/, not that I know much, but the quality of the tutorials for all of the languages on there is clearly very high. His mission to make higher education more accessible is also highly commendable.
That is a pretty strange website to post for coding, just my opinion though.
The guy who started it all, Bucky, has done a lot since I first started watching, he has his own Vlog, has done lots of Biology videos, quite a few UDK(or it might be Unity) videos, videos on various Adobe products, some 3ds max tutorials, and some other misc. things. In it's essence it's about programming, but he's expanded considerably to other things. The website used to look very fancy, as his first few tutorials were on web development, but once he got his forum working ( I think ) for some reason the whole site started going slowly so he downgraded it, it's still good though, however strange it may seem.

 • Yeah, which is why one of my friends is trying to get me into coding, that way we can stop complaining about things that annoy us about video games.
Posted by: funkbrotha10
Posted by: Bricypoo I would agree, coding is a big party of creating a real game.
Posted by: funkbrotha10
Posted by: Binman59 I tried then I realised: what's the point? Its fairly useless when most things can be done with a computer without any coding capablilities, like making games.
good luck making a completely original and non-prefabricated game with no programming. Anyone can fire up UDK/CryEngine and place a few level pieces, and have their default gun and UI. But thats not really a game, and its certainly not your game.

Yeah, without it, at best you are left with just prefab pieces from whatever engine you are using.
• I don't know about starting with Java, personally I wouldd think Ruby would be a better one to start with. But that is just me.
Posted by: Bricypoo Well I was just staring with Java, maybe eventually try some others. But for now just Java
Posted by: Binman59 Just out of interest Bricypoo which language are you learning?

• Cool website, I'll add it on.
Posted by: dazarobbo If you're interested in learning about, exploiting, and fixing web vulnerabilities, I highly recommend downloading WebGoat from OWASP. Some of the lessons cover Java, Javascript, and SQL vulnerabilities which you need to understand how any why they exist and how to fix them. The lessons are mostly guided by the web pages, but they may be a little advanced for a beginner. It's still pretty essential going through if you're interested in web programming.
•
Posted by: funkbrotha10 yes, but C does not support classes. ;)
Using pointers to functions, you could make a class like object. The use of pointers is where C held both it's strengths and weaknesses.
