Are all elites against Humanity?

This has been bothering me for a few days, because The elites are my favorite race in Halo. I just need some clarification.

 • According to 343i and Karen Travissty's flipped equation, yup, pretty much every single Sangheili except for the smallest of handfuls like the Arbiter, are evil and would start slaughtering the whole human race again at the drop of a hat...as opposed to everything Bungie ever showed or portrayed regarding the Elites, which I am sure you know, with the majority being a combinations of outright human sympathizers and those to whom humanity isn't a big deal either way (don't hate them or love them) and neither part of the majority wanting more war with humans any time at all in the foreseeable future; and then you get the absolute minority which would consist of those who hate humans and want to continue fighting them, and lacking any kind of at all significant numbers to pose a threat to humans or other Sangheili.
Posted by: Spartan1995324 In Glasslands and the Thursday War... I never got the impression that most Elites hated us. [Spoilers ahead] It was just Jul, Forze, a church (Servants of Abiding Truth), and other bored Elites who dislike Humans. The majority of keeps were neutral. Some of these guys have a preventative stance, like Jul. He sees us for what we are: an ever expanding (human) empire. I don't think Jul would have had a major issue with it... Except that the Humans have a reason to lash out. The Covenant (with Sangheili at the forefront) launched a geonicidal campaign against Humanity. Jul's not an idiot. Humanity has every right to lash out. Jul's predjudice is thinking that Humanity will eagerly follow that path. People like Vaz somewhat justify Jul's thinking. So no, I wouldn't say the majority of Elites are against Humanity.
Nope, it was far more than that, the whole picture presented of the Elites was them all except Thel hating humans and looking for any excuse to start fighting again, aside from Thel not a single Elite hold the positive views of humans Bungie pretty explicitly laid out in every single one of their descriptions and depictions concerning the species after Halo 2. Levu and Raia also hate humans too and want to start up war with them again. The only significant opinions given for Elites are "war now and war later, but we both want humanity dead and gone". Raia and Levu share Jul's views of humans, they just don't think they should start another war right then and now, but they want one all the same. Jul does not see anything true either, like any racist or specist filled with a blind hatred he is an irrational fool with no standing on logic or sound reasoning. Very few (in comparison to the whole population and in the grand scheme of things) humans actually learned the full-scale of the Human-Covenant War, because of ONI's propaganda, almost the entire civilian population (and likely any military as well in the Inner Colonies or off the front lines and far from the actual combat) actually thought that humanity was winning the war! For most people Elites aren't going to be much of a big deal, no more than any other enemy from other wars humanity has fought once the fighting has ended. And considering that the UEG and by extension the UNSC are trying to establish lasting peace and peaceable relations with the Elites, even if they do take issue with the Elites, they have the maturity to actually try and work past their own personal feelings toward what's best for the whole human race...which is finding allies or at least neighbors that won't bother you if you don't bother them in what has been discovered to be a universe far bigger than anyone had previously thought.

 • Not all of them, like the Arbiter and his elites.

 •
Posted by: Spartan1995324 The majority of keeps were neutral.
The majority turned on Thel. The only reason he is still in power is because of the Infinity bombing his enemies. That sort of makes him like a dictator, really.
Posted by: Spartan1995324 He sees us for what we are: an ever expanding (human) empire.
That is not what Humanity is. I thought Halo 4 soundly put an end to this once and for all.
Posted by: Spartan1995324 Jul's not an idiot. Humanity has every right to lash out. Jul's predjudice is thinking that Humanity will eagerly follow that path. People like Vaz somewhat justify Jul's thinking.
He is an idiot because he is wrong; basing his opinion of an entire species upon anecdotal evidence and brief interactions with a few people from a singular organization that has effectively become its own state. Vaz is one man. Humanity has no interest in doing anything that Jul suspects. At best, he is an idiot. At worst he is an evil, sadistic Sangheili supremacist who wants to slaughter down to a child all of those who are capable of being equals to his own species, which most prominently is Humanity at the moment. He has shown no interest in trying to better understand the motivations of his enemies, which might lend better credence to the idea that he is misinformed about Humanity. He just wants to destroy, conquer and press Sangheili Supremacy, and it would be boring and utterly vapid if the rest of his species were the same.

 • I hope to all that is sane Traviss does some angelifying of the 90% of the Sangheili military that never even took part in the human-covi war, maybe then we can talk about a "expanded" universe. [Edited on 11.21.2012 9:04 AM PST]

 • Yeah there seems to be the Arbiter and his allies, the "Storm" Covenant as seen in H4 and just every day Elites trying to survive. It was only a small mention but I really liked hearing that there are Covenant asylum seekers. It makes the whole conflict seem much more real and that at least some of the people who populate the Covenant are actually just normal people who want to escape from war. Details like that, these small touches, are what makes a fiction like Halo seem compelling to me.

 •
Posted by: TheSpiderChief
Posted by: ROBERTO jh The Storm in Halo 4 is a Covenant off-shoot, rebels and traitors against the Arbiter and Mankind. Not all Elites are against us.
From what I have read they are not rebels or traitors. I have read that they follow Jul because they had no knowledge of what happened in the galaxy and they still think that the Covenant are still at war.
Jul leads them against the humans. I'm sure by now they've tangled with the Arbiter. Either way, with Thel being the leader of the pro-human Elites, being against mankind makes him an effective rebel against Arbiter. Also OP there are the misplaced Covies seeking asylum on earth. Some end up as terrorists, but not all. ^^Neither of which are true, so, go figure. [Edited on 11.20.2012 4:13 PM PST]

 • There was pretty much a truce, to some degree or another, and now there is almost full-scale war again. This is due to a few main things. 343i needing a familiar bad guy to fight. Traviss turning almost all the Sangheili against Humans. [Edited on 11.20.2012 3:54 PM PST]

 • The majority of elites are against humanity now. No other way to explain this new covenant's resources

 • Not all. Just enough to command a rather significant offshoot of the Covenant.
