Already back to Halo 3

I've spent the last two days playing Halo 4 and I've had enough. I was hoping not to see another Reach but alas, I don't get this luxury. I'm debating whether it is even worse than what Reach was. It's laughable. Halo 3 is always going to be the smartest of the children. The bright sunspark which always shines through. It is just unfortunate it has almost met its end..... Regardless, here's to another two years on Halo 3! Hooraah! Who's with me? [Edited on 11.08.2012 8:53 PM PST]

 • ^ If 343i expects to see the new generation of games to accept this new type of Halo. Then they should expect to see less sales, and less and less average population. People can deny this, but facts from the last two games would seem to justify my point. And how 343i have seemed to now reject the forging community....... well you get the picture.

The member in question supposedly knows better than to make ridiculous statements that blatantly disregard facts, e.g. "Controls are same as Halo 3 + few new ones" or "custom options are fine". Otherwise, he's right that you should just accept that Sprint as well as the other nuances of Halo 4 are now "Halo standard" and complaining about it is wasted time. The absolute worst case scenario is that there will be a playlist without personal ordnance and instant spawn. Other than that, don't expect to see ZBNS in H4

 • H3 til H5 amirite? I mean, it's clear that no shooter is going to outlast H3's mighty reign. I don't care much for Halo 4 either having not played since the second week of release; however, outside of the passing comment or occasional opinion, I don't see the point in criticizing the game (especially on Bungie.net) since nothing is going to change. It is clear that 343 industries is taking Halo in a different direction, and if one is unhappy with this they should jump ship rather than stick around for cheap laughs. I mean, if you don't like the community, their forum layout, or their community involvement, or their decision mentality at this point, you never will. "Nothing ever changes" is a good principle to apply to most of your life, so you can at least leave knowing you are simply looking out for your own entertainment. Halo was fun back then, but now it's time to move on.
Posted by: meagsIZbeast
Stop trolling. • Halo 4's only half decent CTF MM map is Complex, and I originally despised that map. Now why is that map the only working CTF map? Because you can push with Ghosts, as they function as power vehicles in that sandbox. CTF Adrift ,which I thought would be great, is unplayable. With no power weapons except for the sword of uselessness, its just teams camping their base until the other team quits pushing, retreating to their base to camp the enemies push. Rinse. Repeat. Since there is NOTHING to serve as an incentive to move, camping is extremely viable. Oh, and if they manage to capture the flag once, you might as well just quit, as they can just stay in Adrift's base, raining down DMR fire upon anything that moves.

 •
Posted by: fortifythamind I always complained that Call of Duty ships out the same game every year, but the formula of CoD works. I don't understand why 343i couldn't stick to the classic Halo formula. Halo 3 is a MUCH better game all around. Halo 4 seems way to easy for me. H3 always brought challenge to the table. I still get goosebumps when I start H3 and hear that opening music.
The new menu music is terrible; why they couldn't keep at least that one, classic theme that literally everybody knows as Halo's is beyond me. For anyone interested in reading it, (yeah, it's on waypoint), I made a huge (it's pretty long) thread analyzing why Halo 4 just isn't the game it should have been here. Forge is much more powerful than normal, it's just lacking a map like forgeworld and Sandbox to do it on. The gametypes however, are atrocious. What I completely fail to understand is why they decided to delete the code in the first place. It's not like they had to retype it...they're already using much of the code from Reach. But alas, I have finals and I should really start studying. Feel free to read my Halo 4 Analysis thread if you have ten minutes or so, and hopefully it'll get you guys thinking. Edit: What the heck, my profile pretty much got nuked. Lost all my posts, apparently I made my account in 2011 (it was really 2008), and the profile seems to have reset...Used to be an exalted legendary member here >.> Anyone know what happened? Off-topic, but really surprised...Had to re-do all my settings. [Edited on 12.15.2012 10:33 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: meagsIZbeast 1. Movement is more fluid in this game than reach by a LOT. you can always increase your sens if you feel slower.... 2. What? Proof? FoV feels the same to me. 3. HUD is only a little cramped, I agree. Still nothing worth getting upset over. 4. That seems to be a personal thing, as I have not had a problem with it. Stop putting personal opinions as facts. 5. flinch is necessary if there is no de scoping. Personally idc if its no descope or flinch, but you cant take away both. 6. No there isnt. Clearly you havent tried them. 7. Now you are just making things up. 8. You should complain about all AAs rather than just sprint. And regardless its a new mechanic in halo thats not going anywhere. Adapt. 9. Same layouts as H3, with one or 2 new ones. Get over yourself.
1. Lol, being better than Reach doesn't mean it's not bad still. Reach was bad and 4 is not far behind. The base speed is painfully slow and movement acceleration is slow. That combined with the ludicrously high bullet magnetism makes strafing near useless. 2. You can see this for yourself. Load up the game and notice how little you can see and how zoomed in your view is. No Halo sequel has an FOV that is as high as the original. Not having an FOV slider is deplorable. 3. It's bad and interferes with the way you perceive the environment. There's simply no need for it to be that way and at the very least should have an option to remove the clutter and the annoying lines and rearrange the HUD. 4. That's not a personal thing, that is a fact. It is a fact that Halo 4 is a lot brighter and has much higher saturation than any previous Halo. Just because you "have not had a problem with it" does not mean it it's not nontraditional and bad for the overall atmosphere of the game. 5. De-scope > flinch. I'd rather no flinch AND no de-scope than to have flinch, that's how bad flinch is. 6. Lol, stop embarrassing yourself. Everyone knows the custom options are severely lacking in Halo 4, even Reach had far better and more numerous custom options. 7. No. The game does not adapt well to certain monitors/displays leading parts of the screen to be chopped off (this happened with my new TV that I bought). 8. I don't care how many things they introduce into Halo, as long as we are not FORCED to use them. Not being able to disable sprint is unbelievable. "Adapt" is also the most cliche and flawed response used in Game forums. 9. 3's were bad too. Why is it so hard for them to simply allow us full customization so we can use any button for whatever we want? Lol, "get over yourself"... just wow.
Posted by: Altered Vista Halo 4 Slayer is terrible...I'll stick with CTF until 343 updates the game. Also, it's got terrible hit detection/lag and that needs to be addressed.
I find CTF even worse. Forced auto-pickup and not being able to drop the Flag has seriously dumbed it down and made it incredibly frustrating at times. [Edited on 12.13.2012 6:50 PM PST]

It ruins the whole point of counter caps, or single man caps.

 •
Posted by: WjB456 If you like H4 at least a bit and BTB sounds interesting to you, check out Bigteambattle.net. The site is newly reopened but there's already some settings and maps out on the F/S of Official BTBnet. BR starts, no instant spawn in objective, no custom loadouts, etc. If you like BTB there's a good chance you will have fun playing BTB.net maps+settings. Once maps+settings are finalized there will be ladders/tournaments similar to what was there in Reach.
Reported.

I see more heart and soul put into BO2, than I do Halo 4.
Developers have been taking advantage of consumers for a few years now. They release DLC, sometimes mere weeks after the game's release, so it was, or easily could have been, finished beforehand. Not only do they charge you for it, but they also limit the game's accessibility if you choose not to purchase it. You pay full price for a game under the assumption that you can play it in its entirety, only to find out that you have to pay another $10 or so, or else you're locked out of a significant amount of the online multiplayer. Then another $10. And another. Before long, you've payed over $100 for a single game, or you gave up on it and wasted $60. It's borderline profiteering. The worst example I can think of is what Bungie did with the Mythic II Map Pack. They made it exclusive to Halo:ODST for about the first six months after its release, so it couldn't be purchased separately on Xbox Live Marketplace for a lesser price. Then, they made it a requirement to have all DLC in almost half of the multiplyer playlists. Your choices were: Pay $40 for a map pack, or be locked out of half of the multiplayer, which you were able to play up until that point if you had all of the prior DLC.
The difference with ODST/Halo3 was that most people bought the DLC because it was worth it. I don't recall many people saying "nah I'm not going to buy the DLC". Majority of people have mythic, but with Reach hardly anybody even bought the first map pack because the game wasn't worth playing..... And like you said, we were effectively paying for maps that Bungie 'held' back because they couldn't 'finish' them in time. If they were supposed to be in the full game they should have been free. -Greed was what caused the recession, if developers are not careful they will cause the same thing to the gaming community- [Edited on 12.07.2012 1:48 AM PST]

These people need to honestly open their eyes, or go and play a game of Halo 3 and see the massive difference in gameplay.
H4 may have elements in place from reach, I agree. But the gameplay itself is much more reminiscent of previous halo titles. The gun play in h4 is so good, and feels much smoother than any one of them. I agree it doesn't feel like h3, but that's not a bad thing in this case
