You're too old to be here, opinions?

So I recently had some thread posts and PM's with some younger members about being too old to be on this site. Personally I think the demographic for Halo is older than teenager but I'd like to hear from the community about age on B.net? Also for reference I am 36 and here's some recent gamer age statistics from Australia -
Average age for an Australian gamer is now 32... • I'll never be old enough for this site. Never ever.

 • You are an outlier in regard to the average age of members, but that doesn't mean you're "too old."

 • When it comes to doing something you love/enjoy age simply becomes obsolete. Just a number. If you're happy doing what you do then there's really nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain. Enjoy.

 • So they were bashing you for being to old to be here but it's ok for them? That's sad.

 • Don't let anyone tell you you're too old to be part of the community. It's worth remembering that one of our slogans is "We make games we want to play", and there are plenty of guys in their mid-thirties working here. :)

 • I really don't think there's an age limit for a website.

 • Right now the average age on this site is pretty old, but an influx of new, fresh and young members will be here Soon(TM).

 • I'm encouraged by this thread. I am 27 myself and regularly feel out of place on forum or while playing Reach, mostly because the younger players tend to be the most vocal/rude, and therefore they stand out. But it's good to know there are a mature group of players still as excited about gaming as I am.

 • That's very intresting. If I was from the Nintendo generation I'd be still playing video games too! But if people think you can be to old to play video games, then I guess some people are too old to watch TV as-well.

 • I'm twenty seven, and I've been told video games are just for kids. It's ridiculous that people still think like this. [Edited on 09.20.2012 8:38 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Recon Number 54 I think that it's become the new "clearly you have no life, and can't get one" insult for those of us who are clearly too old to still be in our mother's basement. Teens would insult those in the late 20's to early 30's with the stereotype of "a fat ugly kid that never grew up and now sponges off of their parents". Now that those teens are in college or in the late 20's themselves, they need to alter the insult so that it doesn't catch them in the splash damage radius.
This part will be especially interesting as the younger players grow through the phases we've already been through. Hopefully they mature as most do. Although I never expect the insults and trash talking to die down, hopefully just increase in comedic value, like fine wine.

 • OP, If people give you or any other Gamer crap about being "too old", then come check out the Ancient Warriors. We're in B.net's Private Groups. We're a group of Gamers who're all over 30. We're mature, and don't go for all of the BS that the screaming 12-year-olds give out on LIVE. We love Halo, and any other game really, and we're always looking to game together. At any one time it'd be easy to fin 10-20 of us online just ready to tear it up in Halo. You should check us out. I think you'd really enjoy our mature, respectful, adult views on gaming. And if you have any 30+ Gamers that you think would like this type of environment, then feel free to send them our way as well. :) check us out: Ancient Warriors

 • I don't think you can ever be too old to be on here or play video games. Video games aren't just games anymore. They're true experiences and stories. They're deeper than just a modern toy. They're an exploration of the mind's full creative potential. [Edited on 09.20.2012 4:52 PM PDT]
