How bulletproof is spartan armor?

I'm wondering because in the games Flood shoot master chief and he gets hurt but how if he has thick meta all around him is it that future guns are just that powerful?

So here's what we know. John's body suit is composed of a nanocomposite titanium alloy. We know it's bullet proof to a degree. We know an infection form can pierce it. Conclusion: the Flood can pierce bullet proof armor.
So apparently it's more durable when plot-relevant but is less durable when plot-relevant? Makes sense.
Nope. If the Flood were to have even a sliver of a chance defeating the forerunners, those needles on the top of the infection form would have to pierce class 12 combat skins and up. Considering MJOLNIR is class 2, it would make sense if an infection form could pierce the inferior armour.
Fair enough.

 •
Posted by: raganok99
Posted by: BIOHAZRED I agree, and the only reason the Marines on Halo can take so many bullets is because they are just that bad @$$.
That's game mechanics. It's not canon. Marines dies from a single plasma round or two in books.
True though normally if you where to shoot a human with plasma like that I would guess that wherever you got shot rather it the head, legs, torso, arms, etc; It would more than likely burn a massive hole through the area impacted. This being said the Marines are much stronger than a normal human. Remember this is a video game so you most likely wont expect or want it to be 100% Realistic. likewise My comment on the Marines being "Bad A**" was in some sense sarcasm because being "bad A**" Would not make you any more resistant to plasma in the first place. None the less the marines in Halo are "Bad a**" in general, especially in Halo 3:ODST. [Edited on 09.28.2012 12:07 PM PDT]

 • Definitely. It's obvious just from looking at how much damage the marines can take. Once your shields are gone, you don't even last as long as they do, usually. The armor is just for show, you might as well have shields only and otherwise be completely naked.

 • I feel that everyone ignored my statement for while ago. I'll say this again: FoR (Fall of Reach) Novel states that MJOLNIR is vulnerable to .30 caliber weapons or higher calibers PLUS armor piercing rounds as well.

 • My problem with the armor is the gell layer, if master chief can survive a drop from orbit and survive due to the gell layer locking up shouldn't it do the same for bullets and catche them similar to the woven fabric in bullet proof vests? Though then again. It is a video game, if it was 100% realistic rather than 7% then it probably wouldn't be as fun. But since halo is changing I guess it would be 343% now...
Not according to you several times in that one thread. Did the rules change or something?
Which thread? Wee Man MJJC proved that wrong. Still impressive though, he resisted a hole not even Silver Surfer or Doc Strange could resist.

 •
Posted by: And Im Here Too
Posted by: ROBERTO jh This is the world of fiction, where anything is possible, even a giant green beast closing a black hole with his bare hands. If a Flood infector can pierce nancomposite titanium armor, than that's what he can do, am I right?
Hulk didn't actually close a black hole, and one could write it off as comic logic anyway. It'd still be canon, but whatever. What you're insinuating is that an Infection Form can tear though apparently bulletproof titanium alloys...but is easily held still by Johnson. It's strong enough to pierce "advanced" future armor, but is easily kept at bay by regular marines. (Granted Johnson was a Spartan). Halo's supposed to be at least semi-realistic. • If i remember from The Flood didn't Guilty Spark mention that Spartan-117 was wearing a class 2 suit or something to that effect and the standard for the forerunners fighting the flood was i THINK a class 12(whatever that means)So to that degree i dont think the body suit would cause it much delay or issues. NOTE: i do not currently have the book beside me so the class 2 and class 12 numbers are pulled from the air and my memory but i think it was stated by Sparks that it was six times more powerful then the Spartan suits.

 •
Posted by: nkTJH Some people are forgetting how powerful the pistols in Halo really are.
Yes. The pistol (M6D) fires 50 caliber (by 12.7mm) Semi-Armor Piercing High Explosive rounds. Those are going to pack a heck of a punch. [Edited on 09.25.2012 7:07 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: MAC Blast Smaller bullets like pistols and SMGs wouldn't do much, but bigger guns would definitely do more than scratch the paint. Ghosts of Onyx had the team held hostage by those neck devices and confetti makers, so maybe confetti makers could pierce the armor.
It was the inhibitor devices that was keeping them down, not the assault rifles.
