The B.NET human Safari!

Weeeellll its 2:02 over here in the UK, And I am a little bored. So heres a little creative writing for ya. A little off topic, but it is a reasonably accurate representation of b.net...... We post in an extremely diverse and interesting community. Many different people and cultures exist within, but I cannot remeber a post that has looked at who is invoved in the community, or who makes the community what it is, the regular members. So, come with me on the official.... BUNGIE.NET HUMAN SAFARI! Now, the first person you will now doubt encounter as a new guy will undoubtedly be... 'The Flamer!' Fear not his scary name, this guy is harmless. He considers the words '-blam!-' and 'Dumbass' to be witty insults. Ignorance is the best way to deal with this user. It appears to be their mortal weakness. Much like........ 'The Spammer!' Now these guys like to pretend they are starting some sort of 'cool' revolution. They are not. Don't think the Russian Revolution 1917, the RR 1905. They are v. irritating, however, they cannot stand one thing..... BEING IGNORED.... Ignorance, as they say, is bliss, and can be the most potent tool in your posting arsenal. Use it wisely. Now, there are some users who are stricken with a terrible disease... It is known as RPD aka Repetitive Post Disorder. Now this person could be a regular user, but when this disease strikes, they will post a topic that has been discussed many times before. A nasty affliction, but gentle persuasion usually cures the disease. When this person comes into contact with The Flamer, all hell usually breaks loose. Be aware, and watch out for these situations. Now, we come on to another group... The Grumpy Old Men. These guys have been around a while, and are usually the most intelligent and thoughtful of the community. However, when goaded, it is possible that they may bite back.... and they no how to flame very well, in some cases it has been known that there flaming is so subtle, it is not seen as flaming at all. My advice? Don't bother these guys. They will ALWAYS think Marathon is better than Halo.... Don't try and change that. Now we come to the intellectuals. This group of people are unhappy with the amount of MC vs Neo threads that seem to pop up constantly, and would much rather discuss the effects of Halo on the geo-political climate in North Korea. WARNING-If the conversation of these individuals is too much for you, or goes over your head, DO NOT JOIN IN. You will only regret it later if you decide to flame these guys... They could make your head explode just by thinking hard enough about your name. Well, thats all the members I could think of. Post any others. EDIT: Thanks for the spelling Anton. I usually like to consider myself an Intellectual, and now with the correct spelling in place, I can once again climb back up onto my high horse. Now, lets discuss Halo and its correlation with the rise of hardcore gaming communities within the mainstream market... [Edited on 8/25/2004 8:33:48 AM]

 • I do not like flammers. They take up too much space in the threads. They are mean too. They still can't argue worth nothing, exception of NEO. He doesn't ever quit.
"OMFG HALO ROX0RS!1!!!!!"
Banshee who was the person who said that? I can't remember off teh top of my head.

People that will rummage through the forum screaming "OMFG HALO ROX0RS!1!!!!!" over, and over again. My advice is to stay away from this ever more common creature- they will flame you constantly and make rancid remarks about your mother.
Banshee Baron, Your Mom jokes are a huge part of Bungie history.
There are Your Mom Jokes, and there are rancid Your Mom Jokes. Two different things.

 • Heh, that's the idea. They never expect the innocent pink haired girl. ^_^ Actually, this was the very first avvy that I used. Striker was second. I prefer to use avatars than aren't being used by many others anyway. [Edited on 8/25/2004 7:31:33 PM]

 •
Posted by: Surge ......EDIT: If I may add another catagory...Ultimate Badass Mofo, of which I am this board's sole specimen. This brooding, superintelligent being enjoys moving from post to post leaving behind snippets of his unfathomable intellectual prowess in the form of scathing quips which cause spammers and other creatures of miniscule mental capacity intense brain spazms and convolutions. He is not one to be trifled with. Only the slightly superior Overlord can intimidate him.
You can recognize him by his little girl avatar. Sorry! Far too easy! Besides, I liked the old avatar better. I still see it for other members and think "Surge!"

 • Marathon IS better than Halo in every way. That is fact. Anyone who beleives otherwise is merely swayed by pretty graphics. If Halo 2 can live up to it's expectations, however (which I foresee will happen), then Marathon might actually be bumped from first. My advice is to stay away from this ever more common creature- they will flame you constantly and make rancid remarks about your mother. Deep down inside though, they are natural cowards, and when faced with any kind of fact, will proceed to spew out flames all the more to try to compensate for their obvious lack of brainpower and arguing skills.

 • No, Marathon is only surpassed by your Mom. By the way, you missed a few groups. The Ignorant anti-oldschoolers (Various degrees) and the Total Dumbasses. [Edited on 8/25/2004 6:45:44 PM]

 •
Posted by: Stalin the 31st
Posted by: BobBQ Marathon IS better than Halo. Kind of like Your Mom.
I think i can confidently say that your mom is far better.
If you have to think about it than you're not really confident. Back on subject: Coming through the safari, we meet Impacience, which leads to Bad Posting and Flame War. Generally, if the Impacience and Bad Posting is gently corrected, the Bad Posting may not come back as often. Then of course there are Guilibles (sp?) who never think at all. It is difficult to persuade them to think because attempting to do so usually turns them into a Flamer.

 •
Posted by: Stalin the 31st Now we come to the intelectuals (sp?).
Intellectuals. (oops, blew my cover.)
Well, thats all the members I could think of. Post any others.
Well, there are two others I can see right now; There's the pollen gatherers. They busily hum and buzz around the forums, gathering little nuggets and chunks of pollen and nectar from other sites and bringing them back to their hive to dump, unprocessed, wherever they land. They seem to be largely instinctual in behaviour, and are unable to recognize the large surplus of identical unprocessed chunks and goo accumulating everywhere and gumming up the works. They are quite industrious, though, and numerous enough to be a hazard when encountered in an Africanised swarm. A pity so few have maturated into comb-builders or nectar/pollen processors... and that so few can follow the directions of those who have matured. And then there's the apivores, who prey on the busy pollen gatherers. However, they don't wish to consume the gatherers themselves, or even the pollen and nectar they bring. No, they're there to shear their fuzzy down fleeces or lure them into their own mazes to toy with them. They are a nuisance but, if followed to their lairs, quite insidious. A variant of the apivores is the animavores who attempt to steal the pollen-gatherers' vital essences, but these are in the process of being hunted into extinction. (Even conservationists rejoice at the prospect.) -- Steve does not advocate the stuffing and mounting of specimens. That's illegal. Alas.
