Three things that you want from Halo 2 to be in Halo 4

Topic: What are three things you would want from Halo 2 to return in Halo 4? TL;DR In Halo 4, I would like to see dual wielding, a return to the clan system, and a similar skill system to Halo 2. 1. Skill system: I think the slow system Halo 2 implemented was more reflective of skill than Halo 3. The problem with level jumping as seen in Halo 3 is something that lowered the visible skill gap and created a bunching from ranks 40-45. However, I would prefer high ranks from 50 down to be denoted by their skill number rather than emblems. Also, a return to the exp bar would be beneficial because it allowed for a player to know where they stood as far as leveling up/down. 2. Clans: I think that Clans should be brought back, and added with its own unique ranking system. Perhaps you could choose the best four players to represent your clan and then the skill level of the rest of your clan would be averaged. Your top players as well as the average for the rest of the clan would then aggregate to an overall rating that determines your clan's rank. 3. Dual wielding*: *The reason I originally removed this was because I think they already confirmed no dual wielding. I was not a big fan of it in multiplayer, but it would be fun as an option during campaign. [Edited on 04.22.2012 5:45 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: lI Dust lI to see across the map in splitscreen
lol unfortunately, that was only really possible in older Halo games like Halo 3 or earlier since the games weren't that demanding on the Xbox 360 yet. However, Halo: Reach and Halo 4 are too demanding on the Xbox 360's limited hardware to be able to provide you with a long draw distance while in splitscreen.

I guess we'll just have to wait until Halo 5. :/

 •
Posted by: Striker029 1) Flag and bomb contesting, icon on display during CTF and Assault games
Nice, I totally forgot about contesting. I would also like to see Halo 2 Territories back, as in the good gametypes like 3 Plots. 3 Plots on Turf was one of my favorite Halo gametypes. Territories was not nearly as fun in Halo 3 IMO. Locked territories? That was horrible. That meant if a team captured a territory, it could not be unlocked by the opposing team. I liked how in H2 where it was an all out war between both teams to see who could attack and defend the best at the same time. Areas were constantly being conquered and reconquered. It wasn't set up to where one team attacked and the other team defended.

 • The idea of making so many duplicate playlists is the problem. It is not needed, especially with the availability of voting.

 •
Posted by: Dr Syx
Posted by: MisguidedDrake4 i do indeed like that idea. It would also make it easier/faster to get teams of testers together to test custom maps and to test MLG variants and such. You could search by keyword, user, gametype, or a "throw me into a random game" option. Of course, there would still be private games and "friends only" settings.
You could also organize all the matches by ping and get a game where you're guaranteed a good connection. :D
It seems like Reach has more because of 4 FF, 4 Anniversary, 3 community, and then all the competitive.
I actually included the community playlists as well xD I think the reason people feel there are so much more is because they see all the categories whereas before there were just two.
There was a point where Halo 3 had a lot more playlists than Halo: Reach today. Most of the playlists were either removed or consolidated into one playlist. Halo 2 Xbox also had quite a few playlists. I think it had somewhere close to 75% of Halo 3's peak number of achievements. It's hard to remember though and there's no way of checking the playlists anymore. Unfortunately, Halo 2 Vista doesn't really have any playlists.

 •
Posted by: Dr Syx I can get having seasonal playlists as special but I know for a fact I'd rather have the amount of choices Reach offers. After all, it only has 3 more playlists than Halo 3 does at the moment. In fact, if you didn't include all the DLC (For 3 and Reach) you'd end up with Reach having one less playlist for competitive multiplayer than Halo 3 does. The reason there are so many is do to Anniversary. (3 whole playlists just for that DLC) What would be much better than that system would be to have ranked playlists. Things like Team Slayer, MLG, Team Objective, Lone Wolves, Team Snipers, and Squad Slayer/Battle. Then, instead of having social playlists, you have a custom server browser where people could either create custom P2P games or pay to rent a dedicated server from Microsoft. Here's a sort of pitch for that: Hate all the playlist 343 has? Have a clan/community that you want to play with without having to worry about organized game nights? Want to be able to get online matches with custom content from organizations like MLG and GrifballHub without having to wait for 343/Microsoft to add it in through an update? Do you want to host your own games; where it's easy for other players to find you where you have completely control? A custom games browser is the thing you're looking for! How do you like it? Microsoft would love it because I included them making money off it. Hardcore gamers love it because they can finally have a pure competitive arena customized to their opinions in an environment they can completely control. Casual players love it because they can make a game where everyone spawns with rockets and a jetpack. Everybody a winner!
i do indeed like that idea. •
Posted by: MisguidedDrake4 Yeah but think of Halo 3 in its prime. 6 or so ranked playlists, 6 or so social regulars, with special holiday/seasonal playlists in there, with double xp weekends and playlists that came and went and came again. • 1. The Gameplay: Reach has a distinct difference when compared to Halo 2 and Halo 3. It doesn't flow as well. IT's almost like Call Of Duty. Spawn, kill, die. Spawn, kill, die(repeat). The physics in Reach were terrible too. It's almost impossible to not flip a warthog. In Halo 2 and 3, it was atleast difficult to flip them. 2. Multiplayer Maps: Personally, I would be fine with 343 simply copying the maps from Halo 2's Multiplayer Map Pack and upgrading them for Halo 4. Maps like Terminal and Relic shouldn't disappear simply because they aren't brand new. Bring some of the amazing old stuff back. 3. The weapons: Halo 2's dual-weilding was great. In halo 2, the needler actually played a role in the game. Now, it's like the plasma pistol(except, the plasma pistol was actually improved, it can shut down vehicles), left on the side. Only picked up when you've exhausted you'r ammo and grudgingly pick it up. The Magnum in Halo 2 was awesome, fire as fast as you want, it was a real pistol. Halo 3's was cool, but if you missed a shot, your dead.

 • Top three things: 1) Flag and bomb contesting, icon on display during CTF and Assault games 2) Melee strength tacked on to heavy weapons, i.e. Halo 2 strongest with Brute Shot and Rocket Launcher 3) ELO won't return, but a challenging rank system
