Huge disconcerting glich in Halo!!

This is a really weird topic... something I had never seen happen in a video game before took place when I was playing on my friend's X-Box several years ago- the game started talking to me! This is the thing: my friend had a pirate mod-chip installed (I do not condone illegal gaming!) on his machine and had many games and roms loaded onto the hard drive. I figured the glich was because of this at the time! Anyhow this is what happened: The colors started getting freaky. This had happened several times as I played on different occasions. Everything would suddenly appear sort of neon and differently colored for some reason. I didn't think much of it at first. Then once the whole game froze, crazy-colored, and a voice from the game said "How crazy are you?", then everything stopped functioning and I had to restart. I had never had a video game address me personally before! (besides 'What is your name?' or '144 GP okay?') It was so strange! Anyone ever hear this when you are playing? I wonder if Bungie programmed that into the game to let the player know that the system was about to overload! No idea. Anyone know about this?
