Halo Graphic Novel Interview

Halo Graphic Novel: The Interview As you know by now, Bungie has been working for a while on a little thing we like to call the "Halo Graphic Novel." This hardcover book consists of four original stories set in the Halo universe along with a collection of awesome gallery pages, all contributed by some of the most talented artists and comic book writers in the world. We recently partnered with the fine folks at Marvel Comics to help us get the book published and into the hands of our fans. The graphic novel is expected to be in stores on July 12th with a suggested retail price of $24.99. Last week a great two page preview of the Halo Graphic Novel was featured in the Wednesday edition of USA Today. If you missed the print version, the gist of the story (minus the great artwork) can be found on the USA Today Website. Mike Snider, the reporter who wrote the piece, worked with Bungie and through our partner, Maria, to get a few questions answered by the team behind one of the stories in the upcoming book. Simon Bisley (artist) and Lee Hammock (writer) are responsible for "The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor", the largest of the four stories that make up the Halo Graphic Novel. This is a 44 page tale of the Elite Spec Ops Commander, Rtas Vadumee, who has been exiled by the Covenant for failing to kill Master Chief during the events of Halo 1. Unfortunately, due to page constraints, only a portion of their responses were able to be included in the final piece. Lucky for us all, Mike at USA Today was kind enough to share the interviews in their entirety, which we're now sharing with you! [Edited on 5/17/2006]

 • That's right, the New Mombasa comic is less realistic than the other stories, but personally I don't care about. The pictures are enough beautiful to make me forget these things :P

 • I don't know about anybody else but the art for "New Mombasa" really sucks. No offense to the artist but it seems to me that the artist didn't even play the game to see what the Elites looked like or how the plasma rifle even shoots. Check out the preview page and see what I'm talking about. They have an Orange Elite with a Purple sword???!!!!! The plasma rifle is shooting like the Hunter's canon in H2???!!! I don't like that portion one bit......BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE THE REST OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 • Does anyone else think that some of the art in this book looks alot like some of the old G.I. Joe and transofrmers episodes?... http://bungie.com/images/news/inlineimages/RobinsonLee2_large.jpg Especially that shot..is that the Chief or Cobra Elite Soldier?...or maybe a bizarro verison of Shockwave

 • I have one question and one comment. Question: Is Bryan Jarrad another way of saying Ske7ch? Comment: I really like how Bungie controls the use of their IP. Keeps it down to a manageable size, of limited redundancy and inconsistency, that their fans can stay on top of. This is directly opposed to something like Star Wars. It's very depressing when you see 100+ books on Star Wars. You just know you can't stay on top of it. I like the Halo system better.

 • Maybe it's because I'm sick and in a bad mood, but the "graphics" part of this graphic novel really don't do it for me. The drawings, I don't know, they just seem "meh". I guess I'll buy it for the story then, but $24.99 for a halo book makes my wallet cry

 • First thing, I can't wait to buy one and read it(I already made sure that my local comic dealer will put one aside for me). Secondly, I'm a huge Marvel fan and have been collecting their books since I was in the 5th grade(I'm 24 now). But, why oh why didn't you get Mark Bagley to pencil one of the stories? No offense here, the art looks great, but none of the artists you guys picked compares to Bagley. Lastly, I thought Zuka Zammanee(or whatever) was the Elite assigned to kill the MC during Halo and he was killed on the elevator when the Chief was escaping the PoA. Please explain. Thanks.
