not a slight against the game, devs or community.
just an observation after passively playing the game for the past 10 years or so, theres always a small window of opportunity online to discuss the game in any positive or enjoyable manner before something is an issue, or the company implodes on what is seemingly regular intervals.
it would be nice to just play the game, without having to ignore 25 controversies a year :D
it would be nice to just play the game, without having to ignore 25 controversies a year :D
I do and it's pretty simple actually :) I log in and play a bit to disconnect from the world. And stopped taking the game so seriously.

It would also be nice to play the game for fun and not have it feel like a second job.

It'd be so much easier if people could understand that you're capable of liking a thing while not liking the actions of the people working on it. Hell, 99 days out of 100 I'm a big fan of the team at bungie. They make something I have loved for ten years and will continue to love for the foreseeable future. That doesn't mean I'm incapable of being upset when someone on that team does something bad. But a lot of people seem to think its a binary. There is no concept of nuance. You either think bungie is the second coming of the anti-christ or a perfect developer who has done nothing wrong in the eyes of a lot of people in this community

I don’t think it sucks at all. I enjoy playing the game and that’s all the really matters.😁
-
There's definitely a negativity bias on these forums. I wish there was more positivity too, but...well...wishes and horses... oh well. I still have fun with this stupid game. Just differently, now.
-
You can. Participation in the Destiny 2 forums is not a requirement to play the game.
-
I just don't tell people I play it. It's basically like saying you smoke cigarettes. You get that. "Oh, you still do that?"
-
It’s like being the best friend of a serial killer. You don’t know him like I know him. When he’s not doing those really bad things he is a really nice person.

Honestly agreed, Im a returning player who hadnt played since lightfall and didnt pay attention to the game or the community until march, the break made me super excited to get on and get caught up with everything only to find out the state the community is in. Not that I blame them, Im not one of these naive people that wishes everyone could just be positive 24/7. A lot of things are valid and like you say the game cant seem to catch a break. I went back and got caught up with the whole chill inhibitor perk weighting fiasco, and the negative reception of Revenant, and now the explosion over rite of the nine, people are just fed up with this stuff and for good reason. What really shocked me as a change between when I was last playing and now is that the game feels sick. People have always complained but the game has remained super active regardless. But now, the LFG channels for featured raids are slow, and in PvP you match the same people seemingly every game and queue times in rumble and quickplay playlists are the slowest they have ever been, much less in comp. So its not just all talk, people are speaking with their activity on the game or lack thereof. At this point I dont even care what I want in the game, I want whatever will get people to play it again and talk positively about it again.

I started playing in 2018 or 2019 , i don't really remember . I have been playing for a while but i quit when they came up with those things above the enemy their head . That leeching , bomb , immune shields and all . I have been playing destiny 2 for years and yes there were other issues that i did not like but i went along with it . I have been dealing with bungie their BS for many years but that was fine . At least i could still play the game and whatever activity i wantes to play . Now those things above the enemy their head is in every activity . And that is not how i wanna play destiny 2 . If they remove that then i will prob come back . Untill then , i hope this game dies . For real . They completely destroyed it . Tbh i don't even know why people still play it .

I stopped playing a week into ep 3 after I realized the new dungeon was tedious as hell to solo. I keep checking back here for a reason to come back, haven’t found one yet.
-
I've enjoyed the 10 years it's given. It's time to invest my wallet elsewhere as the quality and security of Destiny have dropped below the line.
-
I agree with the idea that it would be nice to play without the controversies. I will say I believe 90% of the controversies are Bungies own fault. EG: Right of the nine announcement that dungeons would rotate weekly and in reality they knew they would rotate every 3 weeks. Not a slip, or an error, but intentionally misleading the player base because they KNOW that every 3 weeks will be an issue. The rotation schedule, the announcement and everything in between is in Bungie's control. Yet they still design the game in a way they know players will be unhappy with and lie about what they are releasing. 100% percent in Bungie control and 100% Bungie's fault. Bungie could have prevented this entire controversy. Bungie failed at the most basic of litmus tests for any game. Not fun, engaging or enjoyable to run the same dungeon for 3 weeks. The whole thing is a huge miss on Bungie's part.

It really doesn't. Just ignore this forum and discuss things on Reddit and you're good.

Edited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 5/18/2025 8:13:40 PMPlay skyrim se, lorerim 4.0 and mages and vikings mod lists have just released you'll think I'm mad but look at the playercount for skyrim atm lol compared to destiny 2
-
Fair statement and it’s like they do it on purpose.
-
The people working on the game now are mostly new, unninspired junior devs who work from home and have a massive disconnect to what made the game great. Theres no passion, no creativity and no proper resources put into the game anymore. Games used to be passion projects, nowadays its a 9 to 5 job like all the other "get it done" jobs for most devs it feels.
-
The destiny team is still moving according to plan. The marathon team is the one screwing up right now. As long as destiny keeps putting out worthwhile content, we'll be fine
-
It's definitely a roller coaster that's for sure... always something going on at least it's not boring... except when it is anyways...yup destiny in a nut shell...
-
It’s a love-hate relationship.
-
Yeah Bungie is done for ! Had to happen and nothing lasts forever . I don’t think Bungie even looks at this forum that much now …probably have a AI program to skim through . With all bungies bad choices and marathon which looks like it could be the final nail in the coffin .
-
Nah the devs deserve massive slight, this game has been nothing but a money grab year after year. Dungeon keys, half baked expansions, silver etc
-
The true fans (or at least in name) are the ones that are unaware or dismiss the controversies. Nothin will bring them down
-
One can just play and ignore the controversy. I do it all the time. Another option is just staying off social media and then you won’t need to hear about it
-
Just posting that the Sanguis shader is available for bright dust.
