Warlock Rift : Update Please

Can this class ability please get a slight update. As of now, there is no punishment for pushing a well. And while you could argue the player in the rift can shut you down, lets be honest, most rifts are placed after damage has been taken. It seriously needs to be more of a threat. Like perhaps increase its regen rate for healing and grant intrinsic Damage Reduction for Empowering. I really think it needs a slight overhaul. I have killed so many Warlocks in their rifts because they are stuck in the animation. I could be in the minority here, but I genuinely feel that both Rifts need tuning especially since every class can now achieve 100 recovery very easily.

  • Tbh I’ve never understood why walking through a barricade actually hurts, but going through and enemy rift does absolutely nothing. Slightly odd to me. At least it would keep the apes at bay. Apart from that, I’d say just speed up the animation and that’s prob the most they’d ever give. I would prefer rift be completely replaced by something else since even in PvE I die more often than it saves me, even behind cover with all the splash damage that can happen lol. I’d rather have something a bit more useful. Maybe an aura that travels with you rather than an immobile rift. It would last less time, cast quicker, and have the same effectiveness if not a tiny bit more. To balance it out, we could remove the overshield granted (not that it does much anyways). I’d love a minor burn effect to make apes think twice but I’m already reaching as it is lol. Just my opinion, but you know it’ll never happen regardless 😂

  • One of the best rules that I have learned from watching top players is this... If your not actively engaging a target shooting/ability, your doing it behind cover. If your reloading, activating a super, casting a barricade, rift, even dodge invisibility/radiant it's usually behind cover; because you can't defend during any animation. Many Warlocks place thier rift at the corner of cover, before challenging; while also using the third person animation to get information.

      • Good player will not cast rift or place barricade in front of enemy in PvP. Rift where it should be, people just must learn how to use it.

        • Literally just give it the barricade treatment. Enemies that walk through your rift take damage (doesn’t kill) and slow down.

            • The cast speed can be increased. Not to be instant tho because we can see how instant regen isn't being favored right now and with The Stag, it would be on tap damage resist with healing mid gunfight. But the cast speed can be faster and it would be a bit more useful for combat

              • The punishment is you’re pushing a guy that’s healing or doing extra damage… Place your wells better and you won’t have this issue…

                  It would be nice if he casting speed could be increased Also think they should turn Icarus Dash into a class ability that has the base cool down of Gambler’s Dodge and then turn Phoenix Dive into an aspect and have it work the same as Shatterdive

                      • Stag + healing rift with jade rabbit was easily the best combination on eternity last week, rift is fine and works well for its intended purpose, loreley, healing grenades and classy restoration have just stolen its identity which makes it seem lacklustre, remove all this garbage and it will feel like it should again.

                        • Yeah, warlock casting does take forever. I’ve killed plenty of warlocks mid-cast and I too have died too many times mid-cast. Only thing I would say is that it shouldn’t be too fast. Or either make an exotic that instantly casts rift or something. Definitely don’t want another class ability that becomes a get-out-jail card..hunter dodge is already obnoxious in pvp.

                          Stop trying to use rift like dodge. Rift and Barricade (and Warlock and Titan in general) require different playstyle. They are very strong when used correctly.

                          • Charge all rifts to phoenix dive animation. Dive places rift as well. Hold rift button on the ground to charge it. Making it up to 4x as big after 5 second charging.

                            • If they changed them to work like old warlock healing grenade where you had to charge them, and then throw them anywhere I think that would be pretty neat

Arc rift is coming, with blink rift being a thing, you instantly teleport to said destination of your choice while raining down a lightning bolt of doom as you pulse arc lightning all over the ground and your 5 new arc buddies will go and find your enemies like mini tracking tazer balls of death. Also, Corrupted rift will make you immune while casting and send out corruption spikes in one direction basically impaling, poisoning and blinding all of the enemies. In a 50m radius. Updated third darkness class: Bieberverse. Each time you use an ability, anywhere, on anyone... It locks their screen and plays every justin bieber album backwards until done.

                            • I don't think Rifts need any improvement. The viability of Rifts in Crucible is directly related to the state of primary weapons in Crucible. Rifts counter primary weapons, but are susceptible to instakill weapons (special weapons). In the past few seasons, Bungie has applied numerous buffs to primaries and nerfs to specials. As a result, Rifts are stronger than they've ever been

                                • Can we make it work with solar .... Solar all about healing yet our main healing ability doesn't synergies with the rest of the subclass Also if they are planning to keep phoenix dive as a rift replacement make it work with rift exotics

You have a healing or a damage bonus. That’s plenty.
