Please don't make a raid exotic a random drop

Garden of Salvation you did it right. You made a quest for a raid exotic and made people earn it. People could even help their friends get it. While for Deep Stone and Vault of Glass the drop rates are widely variable for everyone. Buddy of mine has the same clears as me and has 7 VEX MYTHOCLASTS? How is this good game design?

  • I disagree. Destiny is most fun with a carrot to chase. Make drop rates lower. Stop giving away exotics on the season pass. Stop nerfing exotics. Leave them powerful. Let people complain about being excluded from activities for not having the desirable gear.

      • I am a firm supporter of all raid exotics being tied to finishing the corresponding seal, and every raid seal would require a flawless completion. It prevents getting screwed by RNG, and also prevents people getting hard carried in cases such as Divinity. You want the exotic, here is a 100% way to achieve it … but you need to be worth your salt to get it.

RNG would be a better solution if it didn’t take over 3 runs for the players because the total classes are 3. Quests would be okay if the components of the quest could be completed anywhere but the final step meant just finishing the raid. I feel a quest would be better because it would allow players to complete it at their own pace but there is nothing wrong with RNG especially if it actually rewards you for your efforts ie 3 tries maximum for it. It made me feel like crap to get Vex when I had only done the raid 3 times while someone else was on their 30-50 run and still no Vex. What I don’t understand is how RNG is more favorable to players who rarely play the game daily or even weekly but someone who plays everyday gets shafted??? I mean you got players being forced to grind maliciously just to enter the idea of gaining loot despite the amount of effort included. Grinding should grant you the loot no matter what but the loot itself should feel much more rewarding due to a higher level version of difficulty. If I do an Adept NF, I should get the loot but that god roll should probably be rare to drop but the additional rewards can be extend the grind. Now if I did a GM NF, I should get all the adept loot but the god roll should have a better chance of dropping but still remain random. The additional rewards should be much better than an Adept version of difficulty. Give players the reason to chase loot and when they are done with that content, it opens the game up to what they truly want to play without needing to remain in something they don’t like playing.

        • Quest was annoying because all these newbies were hopping in on raids with no experience, and claiming YouTube gave them all the knowledge they could ever need. RNG is the way to go. If you have bad luck, that's your fault, not others. Whether it takes you 1 run, or 101 runs, the whole point is WHO you raid with, not how many times you raid

            • First run to get raid exotic does mean no one will ever do the raid again. Having struggled to get vex after 45 odd runs and a clanmate took 38 runs, maybe a guaranteed drop at the 20th or 30th go? That way, loads of raid runs happen for bungie and guardians know they will get the exotic if they put in the effort. The RNG element totally sucks as I've had to do a lot of runs for vex and a similar number for eyes of tomorrow....although o got 1k voices on 4th run....how's that fair on anyone?

              • In favor of both. Nothings bad about mixing things up. However, the head scratcher to this conversation is, nearly all those who are “pro quest” for raid exotics don’t even have divinity?! 🥶

                • Totally disagree. So many people did Garden of Salvation a single time and never touched it again because of the divinity quest. If they did that with every raid, it would just lead to even less resources being spent on the activity because nobody plays it.

                  • If they’re gonna make it an rng drop, they could at least make it to where you can run the raid multiple times in one week (Start to finish and not just farming the boss cp). Every encounter will reward nothing, but the final boss will still have a chance to drop the exotic.

                    • I'm okay with it being a quest if the quest is very hard and takes lots of grinding. None of that free hand out BS a raid exotic SHOULD be verryyyyy difficult or very unlikely to get so that they can make it strong enough to be worth it

                      • As someone who completes raids through the help of sherpas and carriers, i can say that i agree and disagree with the exotics being earnable through missions with 100% chance. One one hand, if you know what you are doing, then everything works just fine and you get your exotic in the end. But on the other hand, think about those who get sherpa helps and carries from others. Learning about a raid's mechanics is hard as it is, and when the extra puzzle mechanics of the exotic quests are also added into that moment of being carried, it only makes things harder and more confusing for casual players. For casual players such as myself, that rng may provide to be more bearable than the extra steps of an exotic quest that could make the sherpa/carry less bearable. If the exotic raid quest steps are going to be added, it should not pose any more difficulty for those who are willing to do the sherpa/carry in the first place.

                      • I think the best option would be to have it stay RNG but also have another method of getting the weapon through seals. Player time should be respected. If a player has run the raid 50+ times and has mastered the raid, why not give it to them at that point? You maintain the RNG aspect while also giving die hard players a pity system.

                        • They just need to make it increase percentage 5% per completion with a starting drop rate of 5% this would incentivize playing the raid at least 20 times

                          • I flat out refuse to go through raids countless times after one exotic knowing some people take 50 times or more to get one gun. I play destiny 2 for enjoyment and not for torture.

                            • Everyone that’s saying GoS had poor replay-ability: could it just be that the weapons aren’t that good and the encounters are boring? That more than anything is the reason why GoS has no replay value, not the lack of grinding for Divinity. On the other hand, I think the random drop is better so long as the drop chance scalar is set to 20-30 runs instead of 50-60.

                              • I hope its a quest, I’m not the type to run raids over 50 times just to have a chance at an exotic even if its busted. I already burned myself out with raids back in D1, I cant bring myself play the same raid more than 5 times.

                              • Also exotics from raid shouldn't be gated for any type of Seals.

                                • Boost the cap on spoils and make it cost like 500 or so, you either get it as a drop or you get it after 3 or 5 clears.
