Hoping someone can help me with an audio problem...

I have an audio problem that I hope someone can help me with. My brother uses an inexpensive microphone that plugs into his controller and he listens to the game and chat over his TV. I use a headset with a mic to listen to the chat and usually listen to the game over the TV. Now it seems that he gets a feedback noise because of the game coming through my TV and through the mic. So I want to use a headset connected to a receiver to get the TV audio. I can get the game to come through the receiver headset but I cannot get the chat to come through the receiver headset even when I tried to set the settings for everything to come out of the TV. One problem I have is that his inexpensive mic captures very loudly the clicking of the buttons on his controller. So I've been using one headset for his chat (and the button clicking and anything that comes through his TV) and a second headset for my TV audio. I need the one headset connected to the controller for the microphone. I've seemed to have tried out every variation of settings to get the overall audio output to work as I would like. My thinking is that I would like to have all the audio come through the TV and thus through the receiver using that headphone and just have the headset\mic connected to the controller for the chat output. Since I don't seem to be able to get him to use a headset on his end, and stop using his cheap mic, I'm trying to finesse the audio all on my end. I'm probably overlooking something simple, but would appreciate anyone's suggestions on what settings to use since getting him to change his setup won't happen.
