Destiny is missing these basic functions that have been in most similar games since the early 2000s and are common sense.

A latency/packet loss display to each player in roster/scoreboard and to the current activity host. Could be tied to setting to make the display optional. The input method the player is using in game (Mouse icon or Controller icon) near Bungie name in player frame. Could be tied to setting to make the display optional. A country of origin flag based on non-relayed IP address with region indicator near Bungie name in player frame (ie. Aus, US-E, Asia, US-W, CAN, US-C, UK, GER, etc). Could be tied to setting to make the display optional. The ability to OPTIONALLY restrict region/latency in matchmade activities. This comes with the understanding that your queue times might increase as a result, but you will get better matches. The ability to OPTIONALLY disable cross platform in matchmade activities. (ie. consoles can mess with hit registration for other console users and PC users). This comes with the understanding that your queue times might increase as a result, but you will get better matches. The ability to OPTIONALLY restrict input method in matchmade PvP activities. (ie. "match my input" or "allow any"). This comes with the understanding that your queue times might increase as a result, but you will get better matches. A UI dropdown which allows you to select audio input and output devices. You shouldn't have to use workaround with the application volume settings in Windows. This could also be handy for consoles that have multiple audio sources too. An option to auto-center windowed game. If you switch between fullscreen and windowed using alt+enter, the window can be offscreen. A reset button or automatic toggle would suffice. There should be no need to modify the cvars or shift+click the task bar icon and maximize to work around this.

  • If we honestly listed out all of the basic functions Destiny has been missing that all other games since the early 2000's have, we'd need another forum just to host them. However - 'We're listening...' Yeah, right....

    • For the connection thing on your first point: fun fact back then in D2 you used to see everyone's connection quality next to their names in the roster, so say in pvp or a raid if someone was red bar lagging you'd notice by looking at it just like way back in pvp post games it would show you how many times someone died, so you'd know why really your team lost a match by looking at the post carnage report, bungie removed it so the scrubs who singlehandedly bring down the overall team effort (specially when you or more players would be carrying everyone else) by being basically deadweight for the enemy team to target over and over again.

      • They removed the connection bars because in destiny 1 bcoz EVERY lobby had 2-3 red bars, n the majority of cases they top the lobbies, often on both teams, it was very frustrating. They've hid them bcoz their networking is awful, it's still there you just can't see it

        • Bungie had already implemented a "connection meter" next to a players name, and they removed it since it caused trouble because people backed out of matches due to perceived "bad connection" of other players leading to more bad games due to additional noise in matchmaking.. also they clearly went down the road and went through great lengths to pack everyone into the matchmaking pool to improve their p2p architechture based game latency and matchmaking times by throwing enough people at the pool. Third, you can Enable/Disable crossplay in the settings.. there is an entry for on and off.. (although some guys reported that they were matched with pc players when on console, which can be attributed due to the fact that this setting is disabled when one of your fireteam is playing on pc =) )

Could be tied to setting to make the display optional.[/quote] That would be fine, IF Destiny 2 had Hosting Servers. It doesn't and it's Peer to Peer. The only Bungle server involvement is tally servers to track who shot what when and servers to start up activities or hand out awards for stats. D1 did have a Connection Quality indicator, but that was because one Console was Host. So it showed your and other people's ping time to the host. If they added it in for D2, it would be relative to you and if your connection sucks, then they all suck.

                    • A in game chat text on consoles... Games focused on PvP and competitive have this feature, Destiny a pve focused game still doesn't have is really a shame, it should be introduce since the crossplay starts to be a thing.

                        • Given toxic attitude in pvp that at times is prevalent, displaying flags will add fuel to the fire, this will not be something bungie would look at.

You'll still match with laggy players, network conditions can change on a dime and latency to players could very well change much more once you get into the actual match.                             • One thing that is missing is people with passion and drive. God I hope all the lazy, miserable people will be sent on their way and replaced with people that care. People need to go, end of story and I hope to god it happens and Sony are not scared to make a change.

                                Too many filters. Visible latency is definitely needed. Region locking is good but it shouldn’t be an option to enable/disable. Crossplay should work WAY better and be mandatory or just removed (pvp only). It may be possible that the combination of 30/60/120fps across 3-4 different platforms within a p2p game just can’t work well. Maybe we need gen based mm like before crossplay and stadia to be lumped in with pc. Input based matchmaking isn’t possible right now but if/when it is, it should 100% be mandatory and work exactly like overwatch.

                                • Tell them dude. Put the lazy wallet farmers on blast. They don't have common sense or any sense at all. They are the dollar general of gaming and always will be. This game has only back pedaled. Crucible is HORRIBLE and bungie is lazy

                                • Any or all of these would show just how severely messed up destiny is and, more importantly, how cheap bungie is. The options you request would lead to extremely long wait times because there are not enough players. This is also why cross platform is forced. Bungie rips off not only its consumers but also all of its owners/business partners. How many companies do you know of are sold completely yet somehow manage to retain “complete creative control”? We need someone else to run this game because bungie really sucks at it.

                                  • Agreed. While Halo had robust QoL features for it's time, they were never perfect nor future-proof. Seems Bungie doesn't realize this.
