As a Lumina main (see Titan) I’m just gonna say if Lumina had any more range it would be borderline unbalanced

How so? Currently the weapon has no advantages over ace of spades in terms of damage when within effective range. It has 5 more stability and some extra handling. How would it become unbalanced if bungie decided to add say 2 metres of effective range to it?

The only thing keeping Lumina from being recognized is the fact that it can easily be beat by other handcannons and even some smgs. Lumina is a weapon meant to be synergized with other weapons. That is when it shines. When the perk is activated, challenging Ace or really any other handcannon is almost a guaranteed win due to its forgiveness. It can 2 head and 1 body or 2 body and 1 head if the resilience is low enough. I fear that increasing the range would make it so you wouldn’t need to build around Lumina and it would just dominate. Remember, Lumina's perk in a nutshell is pretty much just master of arms but for a longer duration and it heals allies. Gotta be careful with that kind of power.

None of what you’ve said would make it overpowered if it could hit at 32 metres. The point you make about master of arms is null because harmony now exists. Likewise ace can do the exact same. In fact it can 2 tap if you have memento Mori and high energy fire. I fail to see how buffing luminas range by 2 metres would suddenly break the sandbox.

Edited by MaraSovsCheeks: 2/2/2022 7:31:14 AMHarmony and blessings are quite different. Even if you were to argue that momento and blessings made both weapons equal in range Lumina would be superior because Lumina isn’t the only weapon benefiting from the perk plus a teammate would have the same benefits ultimately making it superior. But let’s say momento grants more range than Lumina (damage buff = range buff). Why challenge with Lumina when I can one tap any ace with a high impact sniper or a grenade launcher? The issue is you’re viewing Lumina through a very small hole and not what it really is. 10 Seconds of free damage for you and your teammates. You don’t use Lumina because it’s LUMINA. You use it to enhance your legendary weapons (Although Lumina is really good with its perk and becomes amazing). I think keeping it below average without the perk and above average with the perk is fine. Also Lumina is capable of 2 tapping too. The only real downside to Lumina is that you need a teammate to be up. But that’s just my opinion tho.

I’m not talking with perks. Ace has a base range of 33 metres. Lumina has a base of 29. Can you justify why? Both have damage perks. Ace also has a slew of extra perks for free.

Edited by MaraSovsCheeks: 2/2/2022 7:58:27 AMThink about it. It’s about difficulty of access. Lets say Lumina went from 29m (base) to 33m (just like Ace). Ace is allowed to be good in base because it’s perk (although giving pretty good benefits) doesn’t really have any CRAZY effects. Lumina turns you into a walking well of radiance. If it was made too easy to use they would have to nerf blessings to some degree to keep it from completely invalidating every other handcannon. Yes, they both have damage perks but one is locked to a single weapon and player (momento mori) and the other is well of radiance the handcannon (blessings). Again, these are just MY THOUGHTS.

Luminas buff is not a walking well of radiance. If you pop a well in pvp nothing short of a Titan superman super will kill you. Noble rounds give a little bit of healing and a 20% damage buff to 2 people and yourself. It’s nowhere near a well’s level of healing. You also don’t need to capitalise that it’s your thoughts. It’s to be expected but you’re posting on a public forum and as such people will respond and criticise what you say.
