Buff auto rifle damage across the board and it will be fine in my opinion.
All autos are bad and take too many shots to kill.

Agreeing with a lot of the buff ideas for ARs, I don’t do all the math but I do know how long it takes to stun a champion. For an AR it can take sometimes a whole mag to break a barrier. And even occasionally requiring you to reload to finish taking it out. A Pulse, HC, and scout eat up the barrier in an easy 1 mag with bullets to spare. All things being equal, that screams less dps a mag, in range, with an AR.

No, I think that would make Tommy's Matchbook way too broken. It already doubles the damage with Overheating. From my perspective, 450-720 RPMs are in a good spot. 360 RPMs need a buff tho. -
X2 dmg isnt even that good considering the low dmg output on autos from the start They just work for early game and normal activities, but every other weapons does it better
X2 dmg isnt even that good considering the low dmg output on autos from the start
Taking all the damage buffs you can stack with exotics and buffs it is. Or would you like to have another "Mythoclast" broken gun in the game?
They just work for early game and normal activities, but every other weapons does it better
That is not because of the Balance but because other weapons simply work better in the way they deal damage and how much per bullet. People play HC and Pulse/Scout Rifles because they deal more damage with a single bullet than an auto rifle does with 10 bullets. From a logical point of view it makes sense, because HC, Scout and Pulse Rifles use Ammunition that has a higher caliber than AR with Ammunition with smaller caliber. And Bungie is always aiming for a realistic gun feeling. I am not saying this justifies the balance, but Auto Rifles aren't even meant to do high amounts of damage. They are meant to be the easiest guns to use for regular gunfights. If Bungie would buff their damage too much, people will probably stop using guns that require more aim and skill and rather go for the "easy to use" auto rifles. And we all know how people in PvP and PvE abused the "auto rifle meta" when Hard Light was King. I love Auto Rifles, but they should never be as strong as they were during Hard Lights meta times in Destiny 2. -
I would agree with your statement if autos were in fact the easiest weapon type to use in both pvp and pve. And its not the case at all. Its the most risky gameplay of primaries in pvp and pve. Pve : you are forced to stay exposed and at a pretty close range to kill...with a very low time to kill (in gm's a 600 rpm can take an entiere mag to kill something like a vandal) Turning you into basically a " i am consuming my team revive tokens" team mate. And in pvp same story, except you really REALLY have to land those headshots and to be in that perfect range if you want a chance to win your duel. And give up on mobility too. Handcanons..scouts..pulses have an easier gameplay overall, and its not because you have to land crits that its harder to use than autoriffles...because its destiny, and you can land headshots while aiming above or in your targets d*ck (Seriously try to use a scout riffle at long range against a friend, and aim for his legs, it will be a headshot)
Pve : you are forced to stay exposed and at a pretty close range to kill...with a very low time to kill (in gm's a 600 rpm can take an entire mag to kill something like a vandal)
I don't think that is correct. You have to compare it more to legend/master levels, because grandmasters are pinnacle PvE content, even harder than raids and are meant to take that long to kill a single (elite) enemy. That's one of the reasons why Bungie gave us players infinite primary ammo, so that you don't run out of primary ammo in gunfights that take longer than usual.
Turning you into basically a " i am consuming my team revive tokens" team mate.
Nope. Only if you don't play cautious. Aside from champions (edit: and certain types like Hobgoblins and Hive Knights) no enemy has health regen in the game. You can either go in, risk to be the hero and die to a simply GM enemy or you play smart, defensive and with patience and deal damage from medium distance over time. For example "The Summoner" with Rangefinder works excellent for that. And...
And in pvp same story, except you really REALLY have to land those headshots and to be in that perfect range if you want a chance to win your duel. And give up on mobility too.
My 720RPM "Reckless Oracle" from Garden of Salvation and my 450RPM "Shadow Price" from GMs are still able to kill enemies in excellent time for their gun class. People only don't play them because the Meta-Weapons are much easier to use. If Players couldn't use the Top 10 Meta Weapons in each slot for a week in PvP, you would quickly see some people playing Auto Rifles more regularly. Recently, a community tried such a rule in custom tournament games and they had great success with a high amount of item variety used in PvP. If we would have no "Bullet Magnetism", many guns would feel a lot less fun to play in Destiny, especially on controller. Bullet Magnetism is also used in various PC-only Shooters, just not that strong. -
If you think 450 autos are in a good place in pve you're mistaken

As I said above, Auto Rifles (outside of 360s) are fine. Just everything else is much stronger. We don't want power creep in PvE and PvP. -
Good spot in patrols, maybe. But outside of that autos are very weak.
-
Yeah, every Auto sucks except maybe 720s but those need a buff too.
