I love how the drow are using guns and radios. All so very Offtopic sounding. Despite the many magic-users and fantasy characters in their place there sure seems to be a lot of guns. I find that was a fun addition along with the hat.

More on them later, but I wanted to try some new things. Thought about including a caster in the fight for a short magic battle but cut it for words. Along with like 3 more paragraphs of backstory stuffed in with the Balen talk and a bunch of descriptions of all the old dead things.

The spell battle could have been quite cool, though I understand the greater fight. The fight against the word limit. Which is a shame because it is fun to write and read longer things and difficult to fit them all into such condensed word limits. Either way, I did enjoy the story. The gunner drow were interesting and the many Nils were great. Plus, I always have loved over dramatic hats and cloaks.

Sorry to say but due to personal reasons I am dropping the over dramatic hat and cloak from my usual look.

That and i'm trying to keep a somewhat lower profile and those tend to stick out :p

Edited by Warlock Holmes: 2/2/2022 3:46:49 AMThat makes sense now that I think of it. I’m an illusionist so theatrics are basically part of my powers. But, when necessarily, illusions can conceal as much as they can be flashy. Others do not have such access spell. While we do lose a great cloak the silver lining is at least I have the uncontested most magnificent cloak in Offtopic. Perhaps mask to. I wonder if I should add a hat

I liked that they didn’t have a caster, actually. Very “tech vs magic” vibe, which is always fun!

Edited by Warlock Holmes: 2/1/2022 8:14:50 PMI do understand your point, but personally I still think it would be cool. After all, the main reason I like about the drow having guns is because it reflects the setting well. The whole story is Offtopic-esque as these characters have appeared in Offtopic roleplaying. The appearance of a fantasy Dungeons and Dragons race using modern technology reflects that so very well because people tend to use wildly different gear and technologies in such roleplaying events. Seeing the Drow using whatever tools and magic they had available would further reflect that. Though I do understand why the caster was ultimately removed and I do see the validity of your point.

Oh, yeah, it would’ve worked well either way, and having a caster somewhere down the line would work fine. A primarily technology focused group, bolstered by an elite mage class. I feel in this specific encounter, it felt nice, though.
