An Idea to eliminate FOMO (Devs please read)

I have been a hardcore fan of destiny since the beta of D1, but I have certainly taken breaks like many others during that time. One of those breaks started about a month into the season of the undying. I missed out on some ornaments I really wish I had now. In games like Valorant, they have an option to actually choose which season pass your XP goes to. During seasons like this one, it would be great if I could just go to the timeline menu where it shows I own the undying season and select to contribute my XP to that season where I left off after reaching 100 this season. To those that have earned everything, allow them to restart the pass to earn more ascendant shards/exotic rolls. This would help eliminate FOMO, monetize old content, and still retain those ornaments' value because they are earned. Vaulting content, like locations is necessary due to size constraints as discussed before by Bungie, but this Idea would reduce FOMO by using content that is still in the game but inaccessible while also providing more to do and another reason to bring late in the season. I genuinely believe this would help the game, and I would love to hear if others agree. EDIT: To clarify, this would only be available to earn old rewards after exceeding rank 100 in the current season. So to a new light that started in S15, after reaching 100, he may equipt S14's pass and complete it at 200 for the current season. For players who have already completed all seasons, there would be a blank repeatable season where world drops would take fixed weapon/ armor slots and synthweave would replace the old ornaments. While this eliminates the "but you weren't there" flex these ornaments provide, all of them will require the same amount of XP and hours to earn, just earned when they wanted to play.

I get it. It sounds great. But it probably wouldn't work "on paper". Bungie already has a system in place. Take a look at the Eververse Store and the answer is in there. Bungie could just sell the seasonal sets for 1500 Silver like the other sets. No, not Bright Dust. The leveling concept suggestion also cheapens it out for those who pay for the season(s), max out the pass, and move to another game. It needs to be fair for everyone, and the best concept of how this is demonstrated, is the way things are set up now. A player who does pay for access to the season will get a slightly better incentive, compared to one who doesn't. The Season Pass is...1000 Silver (I think?) $10-15 give or take the region. For those who didn't pay for it (didn't play), or have no clue what was missed (new players), those folks can just pay 1500 Silver if they want it that badly, just like the other sets. It gives incentive to buy the season pass, because it's "cheaper (Think in Silver costs), in the moment (you are playing it during the season), and offers "more" (planetary material, few exotics, Upgrade Modules, Cores, etc)". It doesn't leave those who missed it completely in the dark, minus missing the seasonal story, which can be read in the timeline summarized. Also doesn't stick it to those who did buy the season pass and played the game for that time. That was the chance to earn them. Selling it for Bright Dust in any capacity will just enrage those who did spend money. So the set should also be paid with Silver to make it fair. Those caught in the middle who didn't level up the pass all the way, can just "complete the set" in the store if the player really wants to. Seasons are a "side story" with a toss of some "space fashion" on the side. Players shouldn't feel obligated to get it, but also should know what is being missed if they don't opt for it. Even then..."there's always next season". Besides, once you play enough seasons, you kind of know what to expect. It isn't about the FOMO so much now. It's more about playing the game to get your money's worth based on what you're spending in it. The cosmetic ornaments are a visual way for players to "see" their money's worth...in a way. The only reason the "Live event sets" can be bought with Bright Dust is because the event itself isn't required to be bought, it's free to all. Make sense? The marketing strategy is already in place. The only thing missing is adding those seasonal sets to the rest when a new campaign drops. (i.e.: Dropping the seasonal sets in store for SK when BL drops, or dropping BL sets when WQ drops.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
