Vendor rank up rewards should not be armor because 1) They are always low stats and 2) 20 power levels below your max base power.
IF armor is going to remain in the loot pool then at least make them worth while. Give them a chance to drop high stats, give them a chance at being a pinnacle reward, or at least drop at your current power. Give them a chance to be exotic armor. Do SOMETHING to make them meaningful. As of now all they are is instant disappointment.
At least with weapons there is a chance you might get a decent roll.

1 ReplyMake sure you stop by all the vendors everyday. Some of my highest armored peace’s came from vendors. Bungie keep it like it is. Thanks
-
I'm not saying you are wrong but I do have 2 pieces of 65 base stat Phobos armor from Zavala. I just don't understand why we still can't choose between armor or weapons like we did in Destiny 1.
-
2 RepliesThey take away armour you all moan vendors don't give out armour or have specific armour. They leave it in you moan. What do you want everything handed to you? It's destiny get over it d2 is so casual thanks to you lot that you don't even need to play it now to get everything you can just wit and bungie gives you everything for free.
-
All totally pointless Another endgame of dismantling
-
1 ReplyAre reissued guns OK ? Because that’s just about all there is as an alternative. 😉
-
2 RepliesI do agree. But one thing that should be obvious to anyone is that the gunsmith SHOULD NOT hand out armor, period.
-
1 ReplyThe team at Sony just doesn't care. (From the new management)
-
4 RepliesHow nice would it be, if you could infuse armour from one class to upgrade your other classes armour
-
Vendor rewards should be unique and faction specific. I cant say the last time I was excited to open a vanguard/crucible engram from Shaxx or Zavala
-
6 RepliesDon’t allow Bungie to use the phrase “chance” as a way to get off the hook It’ll be a “0.04% chance of a 51 stat roll (no spikes) after running 500 Gambit matches” etc How about simply make it The higher the Infamy/Crucible/Vanguard ranking (close to reset) the higher the stat drop Giving reason to keep ranking up when there’s 63+ armour & focused pieces the higher a player reaches
-
1 ReplyI think they should rework the stat system into a allocating points thing.
-
2 RepliesEdited by infinity8: 1/31/2022 3:53:38 PMGood point, mate. Armor drop as a vendor ranking "reward" is pretty much useless right now. I think it should be playlist specific weapon, like bottom dollar for Drifter, etc.
-
When witch queen arrives I'm guessing the rank up engrams from top right will be reset
-
-
10 Repliesalso, since tokens are no longer a thing for vendors, what is the point of the rewards not dropping at level?
-
27 Replies
Vendor rank up rewards should not be armor because 1) They are always low stats and 2) 20 power levels below your max base power.
Because that that is the role that VENDOR armor is supposed to fill in games like these. The role of vendors in RPGs in a loot game is to serve as RNG PROTECTION. They are where you go when you need something to fill in the gap in your arsenal or in a build that----because of bad luck---just won't drop for you. So you go there....you buy it....and use it until something better drops for you. This is ANOTHER aspect of RPG game play that Bungie keeps breaking because they let us keep stuff FOREVER. In a better-designed game, where you would have gear rotating out of relevancy in the game (sunsetting) at regular intervals, you would have NATURALLY occuring gaps in arsenals and builds that would need to be filled. So vendors would be easier to refresh...and their wares would stay relevant longer and deeper into the game. This is not a vendor problem It is a Bungie design problem....and as a result of that design problem...a player expectation problem.

Dares of Eternity has been dropping really high stat armor since release….some of the highest rolls I have received from any activity This means they are changing something in witch queen to make your current armor obsolete and force you to grind new armor
-
Especially since we can buy them and they're the ONLY things you can get from specific activity level up rewards that are exclusive to that reward pool.
-
Not all vendor armor rewards are garbage. I got a god roll helm from Shaxx once. Once. So not all, but 99.99% are.
-
Yup, literally a garbage dispensing vendor. There's gotta be a more interesting way of doing this
-
dude yes
-
I like how they ended up with the vendors in D1. You could choose between weapons, armor or glows.
-
albeit rare, I've received 60+ stat armor - I just break them down if they're not as good as the ones I already possess. But at the end of the day, vendors can give us what they want. They are providing a service, and we're the one exchanging goods. If we are not giving them the materials or whatever, then we get diddly squat
-
With the change in reputation, hopefully they will go back to parity. They changed it because of token spamming. There’s no more tokens. Stands to reason, anyway…
-
Edited by Double07: 1/31/2022 7:30:36 PMVendor rewards universally suck and are underused because they have to always give you something 20 power levels below. If they give you something that is not only on your level, but above it. Then… Boom. That crappy piece of armor is actually worth something. Tho it should be impossible for them to give you a stat total that is below 60. That would make the RNG less frustrating.
-
2 RepliesThey do have a chance at high drops, its just extremely low. of the thousands of shards I have obtained, I have only refrained from sharding 1 or maybe 2 peices of vendor dropped gear that was over 62 stat. Its there but, you literally need thousands upon thousands upon thousands of drops to find that one.
