Whatever they do, I know they'll be so proud of their jumping puzzles.
Lol. Which can only be completed by driving through them backwards on a sparrow, whilst running over ads that have some new variety of shield (but must be killed in the correct order or you wipe), at the same time look for codes under the platforms that will be needed to unlock the door to safety and the next ridiculous part of the raid. -blam!- you all at Bunghole, for making raiding all about the no lifers and those with their irl ADHD perk maxed out. Last fun Raid I played was Eater of Worlds. Prestige was a challenge but it was also fun, for your “Somewhat Above Average Gamer” The last actual real laugh my clan had was doing a drunken VoG in D1, sometime after D2 launched. We got monumentally hammered and tried Challenge Hard mode VoG. We laughed so hard at each of us as we failed the jumping puzzle over and over again. We still completed the raid. Eventually. Lol. Failed the challenge at Atheon as we were too drunk. I have never had that experience raiding in D2. Ever. Because everyone has to be “on point” at every moment and complete a lengthy 20- 30 step process flawlessly 4 times or you wipe. It’s ridiculous. And most importantly not fun. It got to us as some of us played games to relax not to get stressed out because of over the top mechanics. Eventually the clan fell apart, and one by one we all stopped playing. TL;dr I got tired of convoluted mechanics just so the 1% could show off their “skills” on Twitch. So did a lot of other veteran guardians. By the way how’s that working out for the games population? I’m sure that cross play had nothing to do with a dwindling population on the individual platforms at all (sarcasm).

There are only a couple of encounters that demand flawless execution, and the most difficult among those (Riven Legit) you can even circumvent the mechanics without really trying. Almost all encounters have ways to recover if execution goes sideways. What it sounds like you want to play is a dungeon, not a raid. Raids have evolved since D1. If thats not your cup of tea thats fine, but that doesnt make them inherently bad or too difficult.

So I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are not being smug. What we have is a difference of opinions. The raids in D2 haven’t evolved, they’ve become elitist. The challenge for the over achievers in D1 was to solo or Trio the raid. WotM on hard challenge was difficult. Similar in many respects to D2 raids. It’s the entry level of raiding that is off putting now. It must be due to the limited number of Master VoG raids you yourself have completed. I don’t want to play dungeons rather than raids, the game needs a lower entry level of the raid with easier versions of the mechanics, like in D1. Then a prestige or master version, then maybe the challenges on top of that. This would increase the raiding community and increase the skill levels of the playerbase. This is just my opinion. There are many other issues I dislike about D2, so it’s unlikely I’m ever going to play enough again to be high LL to raid, or even bother to complete the storyline of Beyond Light.

I was not being smug, my apologies if that was the feeling you got. As far as MVoG is concerned. My opinion on it is that it's difficult for the wrong reasons. It is more frustrating than that it is fun. MGoA is the perfect example of how to do a master version of something right. Anyhow putting my grievances with MVoG aside. I feel that the current iteration of VoG and DSC to a lesser extend are good points for people to start raiding. This is with a sherpa who knows hownti teach of course. The mechanics are straighforward, and there is plenty of space for recovery if something goes south. Especially in VoG, where the first encounter is basically a public event, and then it adds one mechanic, and then it builds on from there. It provides as good way for people to familiaeize themselves with the way you have to play raids. Dividing your attention between mass murder and puzzles. Last Wish and Garden of Salvation were not beginner friendly raids. And Bungie realised that, because with DSC and VoG especially they hit the reset button for mechanic difficulty. This gave a good entry point into raiding, and was required, because the older raids that were used as entry points were vaulted. From those entry points you can then go on to more complex raids. If you read through this wall of text i applaus you. I hope it somewhat explains my opinion on raids in D2.

Now I’m sorry that you’re sorry 😂 I wasn’t sure how to read your comment, it’s hard to judge a person’s intent by text sometimes. Well it is for me anyway. 😂 I think part of the issue is the bad taste D2 left in my mouth from the dissolution of my raiding group within my clan . We were a mixed bunch, but with a discernible skill gap amongst us. The most skilled group got whittled down and their replacements, whilst good players, weren’t capable of coping with the mechanics in Spire of Stars or Last Wish. This was then a drawn out death rattle of the group until Shadowkeep. That killed us off. It’s a shame because I’ve been toying with coming back since VoG re-released and then the Gjallarhorn came back. I’ve got many good memories Sherpa-ing people through VoG (even though I had only 78 completions.)And getting my OG GHORN from the exotic chest before the Gorgon maze. 🥺😀 Happy times. https://d1.raid.report/ps/TripleF73 Anyway, thanks for being so friendly, stating your opinion reasonably and not being a jerk about it. I appreciate your opinion on the raids as they currently stand. Apart from the D2 raid I’ve completed, I’ve only got world’s first Videos to go by. They are not a good advert for any of the Raids after Last Wish. Maybe you are right. Sadly I don’t think I’m ever getting back into raiding or D2 in general. It’s hard going from an experienced Sherpa to being a noob again and that’s part of what stops me becoming back. Not that I can’t take directions , it’s just tough knowing your not pulling your weight. The other reason is my sad personal circumstances, means I have very little time to game at all for the foreseeable future. Anyway thanks again. I know it’s cheesy, but, “good hunting guardian” 😀👍
