Server issues

I've been trying to log into destiny, but I keep getting either the "Chicken" or "Plum" error codes right after is shows the "Checking for updates" message. I know that I'm not in violation of the terms of use and that I have a proper connection. The only other thing I've found that might fix it is clearing the cache data or something along that line. But I don't know how to do that since I'm playing through the Xbox app on PC.
